Worth? I would assume that this intake wouldnt interfere with any warranty. But anyways, I could appreciate the sound of an intake but like any other generic young adult, "I want more power." HOWEVER, I reallly think it would brighten up the mood under the hood sort to speak.intake.jpg

I installed it on my truck. Can't say that I saw any mpg change, if I did it was not noticeable to me. As far as power goes maybe a very very slight more "feel" of throttle response in the 2000-3000 rpm range but after driving with it awhile I don't notice it anymore so probably was never really there who knows. As far as looks, ya it looks good. I like being able to clean the filter instead of buying a new one to replace. Overall is it worth it? It's really a personal thing you have to decide.

The TRD intake and many other aftermarket cannot be measured on a dyno because they don’t show any difference beyond the 3-5% variance in the dyno runs at stock. Meaning they show no gain.

It definitely helps with throttle response. I went with the TRD because it's CARB compliant and would not interfere with the factory warranty. But if I had to do it over again, I would have gone with Volant. Their intake tube has a better design than just about anything else I've seen.

Noise maker is all it is and nothing else. It has been discussed a 1,000,000 times on this forum. You like the look go for it, but that's all you will get.

You may have missed where OVtune stated that the stock exhaust is the choke point.

Also, the whole Dirty Deeds exhaust thread. Meh, I'd like to see dyno comparisons stock : Dirty deeds mids/y-pipe/muffler/resonator.

    Edit: Meh again - you're driving a 2nd Gen.

I don’t notice anything. It uses the same lower half of the stock air intake. It just adds a “flow accelerator”.

    It’s pretty stupid.

Also, no intake will void your warranty. Unless it directly causes an engine fault and can be proven. Nobody is going to open your hood at the dealer and see an aftermarket intake and then void your warranty.

There are dyno results for OVtune vs stock (first page of the Alpha thread). IIRC, that's with stock intake and exhaust (whatever comes on a TRD Pro from the factory).

I'd like to see results that prove Dirty Deeds' exhaust is a power adder. So far, all we have is anecdotal evidence from the ppl who have installed said exhaust. I'm not saying I don't believe them, just that I'd like to see a number.

Maybe Mat could do a series of pulls (tuned) with stock exhaust vs Dirty Deeds exhaust on the same day. That could minimize the variables enough for me and a lot of others.

The exhaust on the V6 3rd Gen has a nasty flattened out or "crushed" spot where the driver's side crosses under the T-Case.

Huh, that's crappy about the oddball exhaust flatspot.
Looks can be deceiving tho, watch engine masters when they Dyno an engine with headers and smash the hell out of the primaries a few times and Dyno back to back.
    Agreed, numbers talk....Dyno them exhausts

I test drove a 2nd Generation Tacoma with a TRD intake and it was noisy!

Couldn’t be nearly as loud as the Superdome when Cam throws a pick.

    Which trd intake?
The one that AFE made is VERY loud unless the truck is supercharged, then u don't hear it at all. The UN supercharged 4.0 with that intake (,silver alum top) is so loud u cannot carry on a normal conversation while merging onto highway or at any rpm above 2k. Been there, agree 100%
The newer one made by K&N/AEM I have not heard, but it's flawed anyhow and runs lean.

An oil catch can would be more beneficial than the TRD CAI. I have both.
