How many threads exist on this forum discussing shift points and throttle response? How many videos on YouTube?

Look, it's a very good truck. I don't regret my decision at all. But it has terrible manners on the highway, particularly if hills are involved.

A little off topic, but not at all...Honda will no longer be making F1 motors after the 2025 season. Stating that the engineering team will be focused on the company goal of supporting zero emission vehicles. Building racing motors goes against the new company policy.

As someone who remembers the days of Prost and Senna shredding the competition (and nearly strangling one another on numerous occasions) in the 80s and 90s, I find that pretty sad.

But F-1 and Honda don't share much in common these days. So I understand Honda's decision.

 

They get paid MILLIONS for the motors. But probably not the R&D. Might be a wash

I said this in another thread. It pisses of TRD Pro Owners but it's the hard truth.
There is nothing "Pro" about a TRD Pro, and IMO that needs to change if Toyota wants to keep it's market share of the midsize truck segment.

All the major truck manufactures are offering midsized trucks with big tires, lifted suspension up to 3"(from the factory),lockers front and rear and winches all factory installed.
These are true Pro trucks.

I am a die hard taco fan, I love them. I love the looks I love the performance I love the reliability.
But I am not gonna lie, I saw a Chevy Colorado ZR2 with Front and Rear lockers 33" tires, lifted suspension front bumper and a winch all factory installed.
I was jealous.

I know in the end my truck will get to where I want it. But having the option of spec'ing a Off Road Ready Tacoma from the factory would be awesome.

 

I wont be putting Gazoo stickers on my Truck..

Seems these manufactures are catering more to ones image, or ego by now offering these trucks. I can see some really needing them, but most will get along fine with whats already out there.

 

Obviously, very few people need the capabilities of a TRD Pro or Raptor. Just like no one really needs a Mustang GT or Hellcat. Like you said, at that level it's more about image and ego.

 

I don't see it that way. Toyota Markets it's trucks as "Off Road" not "Off Dirt".

A TRD Pro is nothing more than a SR5 Tacoma with a 1" lift, and a trim upgrade. There is nothing "Pro" about it. It's a great looking reliable truck.

But:

A TRD Pro is no more capable than a TRD Sport or TRD Off Road, yet it costs 3 to 5 grand more.


Its a marketing gimmick that is starting to be exposed by other mid sized truck manufactures that are giving people in the market for a "Pro" truck something worthy of a Pro badge.

Seems to me you have it backwards. You buy a TRD Pro for the image or ego, you certainly don't buy it to be more capable than a Colorado ZR2 Bison with fully locked front and read difs and a 3" lift from the factory.

Hell my SR 4x4 with a front ARB locker is just as capable as a TRD Pro with all the fancy crawl control, in fact I would wager it's more capable. Point being I didn't pay close to 50K for it.

I have my flame proof undies on so all you TRD Pro owners can fire away lol.
