Nope. I understand it perfectly. You are misunderstanding.

Can you reread my comments and answer questions? Such as, if a suspension has genuinely, literally, absolutely nothing to do with helping clear larger tires, why do so many people do it? Why is “three inch lift and 33’s” a common saying around these parts? Why would suspension lifts even exist if they didn’t help at all?

What you fail to realize is on an IFS truck the factory geometry is unchanged meaning all you are doing is minimizing down travel, when your suspension compresses its the same as factory, lift doesnt affect the factory geometry. The range of motion on a lifted truck versus a non lifted truck is exactly the same. The reason for this is unlike a solid axle your front differential is mounted within a fixed position on the frame. This has been explained ad nauseam. You can lift a solid axle to the moon as long as you correct driveline angles, can't do that with an IFS unless you completely remove the front IFS, or cut out the front diff, frame, crossmember etc.

Most people are lifting their vehicle to sit taller but adding a couple of inches lets you increase your approach, departure, and breakover angles while giving you some extra space in the rocks. It's not much but it helps. The reason people say 2" (not 3) is because thats about the maximum lift you can get without sacrificing all of your suspension performance. The reason people say 33" is because thats the largest you can reasonably fit without going to the deep end of the pool.

A 33" tire rubs the cab mount, a lift doesnt help your tires clear the cab mount. You can fit a 35" tire in the factory wheel wells, again the issue is the cab mount.

And for the record "three inch lift with 33" is NOT a common saying, quite the opposite, the most common thing is 33/285 and a CMC

That's good info for me. I am currently in Virginia but moving back to Tennesse in 6 months and was planning on a cmc. Will wait I guess!
