TRD Lift Kit Struts - No Strut Collar / Spring Seat?! Am I screwed?

    Hi all,

I already made modifications to my taco such as TRD pro grill, raptor lights, etc. Then I stumbled upon the Toyota TRD lift kit for the taco and did a ton of reading here on TW. I learned that it used blocks in the back. Not being a fan of this, I decided to look at 5100's and Icon AAL in the back. Turned out that the TRD lift kit struts / shocks were cheaper than the Bilstein 5100's at the time of ordering.

So based on the TW (thank you!) research, I ended up ordering 2 x front struts (PTR13-35210-FR) and 2 x the rear shocks (PTR13-35210-RR).

Today I realized: the front struts seemingly don't come with strut collars / spring seats.

Searched the forum and the google. Looked for 5100 collars (as I understand it the Toyota struts are basically rebranded 5100), but coming up empty.

Can those collars / seas be purchased separately? Do they have a part number? Were those supposed to be in the box or not because I ordered the standalone part number?

Any insight / help is appreciated here. Right now I am stuck with $200 in paperweights.

    Thank you!

Interesting.. I do remember seeing those parts on the Toyota parts website when I was researching the same TRD shocks. I just assumed they were there as a replacement part. I have also seen the Bilstein version for sale online . I can’t say if they should have been included, they do come when you get the 5100’s.
But yes they are available. If you can’t get an answer here, you can always contact the shipping dealer with the # on your paperwork and they should be able to tell you if it was an error or that they weren’t included.

Also if you Google “Bilstein 5100 installation hardware/Tacoma” you should come up with a few options.

When I ordered my bed extender , installation parts are also separately listed so I contacted the dealer and they said all hardware was included. So I see how that can get confusing.
    Keep us posted.

Got a hold of the part numbers!

The Toyota dealer will get them for me, but in case someone else is in the same situation:

The "Installation Kit" (packaged in white plastic bag) carries the following Bilstein part number: B4-KT1-Z237A01

It contains the M12 top nut as well as the Spring Seat.

The Spring Seat itself has the following Bilstein part number: E4-FT1-Z011A03

I was also able to find the Installation Kit on ebay for around $10 if your dealer isn't as cooperative as mine.

Hope this helps someone down the road. Thanks!

Hi, are you currently running the lift kit? If so what coils are you using?

I am using the standard OEM Taco Off Road coils. The factory Toyota Tacoma TRD Lift Kit, from what I understand in reading TW, is that it is basically a rebranded set of Bilstein 5100, meant to work with your factory coil springs.

Here is the link to the corresponding PDF with the install instructions from Toyota. This was also linked somewhere in the original thread here on TW:

Correct. The 5100’s were designed by Bilstein to reuse the stock springs.

Thank you! Have you been happy with how they feel? I was thinking about using a different coil that can handle more weight but I cannot find any information.

Don't know yet -- as per my original post, this thread was to seek help on the part numbers for the appropriate coil / spring seats for the shocks. Without the seats I cannot install the new shocks as the coil springs would not have a place to rest on under tension.

Once I have them installed and have a couple miles on them under the belt I will let you know.

From what I have read in other threads you can expect a Bilstein 5100-like behavior from how they perform. So better than stock, but certainly not an offroad FOX or washboards-at-high-speed setup.

Good morning. I was wondering if the individual part numbers for the struts only mean one (1) strut and not a pair for both front and rear kits?

Does the install kit only provide parts for one shock? Which means we need (2)?
