As others have mentioned, the OEM TRD Lift isn't just a lift kit/shocks.
Nearly 2/3 of the price can be attributed to the new grill, radar sensor, TSS garnish, U-bolts, and other hardware.

The main benefit is the warranty and ensuring TSS works 100% correctly.

IMO, the TRD shocks and lift hardware themselves aren't terribly overpriced when you break it down. In fact, I've read some on this forum purchased the TRD shocks cheaper than Bilstein 5100 shocks. The thing that deterred me was the dealership labor/installation price in my area ($1500-$2000 for labor seemed ridiculous). However, some members reported their dealership only charged $750-$1000 for labor, for everything.

    For reference:
    - TRD Heritage/Pro Grill (all black) ~$200 from Toyota
    - New milliwave radar sensor (recalibrated for lift) ~$250-$300+ from Toyota
    - New grill garnish for radar sensor (aka TSS garnish cover) ~$350 from Toyota
    - Hardware/other parts: sub-wire jumper harness, parking brake cable spacers, U-bolts, other bolts, lock nuts for shocks, foglight dummy bezels (I know most people don't use these)

Friend of mine had that lift put on his OR.

He bought the truck in Jax and had Beaver Toyota in St. Augustine do the work. He said it was under $1,500 total. Maybe he made a deal when he bought the truck?

Damn, that garnish cover costs more than the actual grille?

Yep. It's a ridiculously priced piece of plastic. I don't know why it's priced so high...maybe Toyota was originally trying to deter people from installing the TRD Pro grill on other models of Tacomas?

I'm running the TRD Heritage grill (Pro grill with black letters) that's bundled with the TRD lift kit because it's half the price of the actual Pro grill (with silver letters). Then, I purchased an aftermarket garnish off Amazon for around $25.
