I have been researching lifts for my 2010 and have a few question I hope you all can help with.

First off all my goal is to run 285's, I don't do any hard-core wheeling just have had the truck 10+ years and ready for a face lift and make it feel like something new.

I understand the TRD comes with a small lift and want to make sure I'm not taking off stock suspension just to replace it with the same and not achieve any lift.

Are spacers and blocks a good way to go when only doing mild off reading? If doing spacers what point do I need to other mods to the suspension?

I see so many posts the contradict others I'm not sure what is correct.

    Thanks

TRD off-road doesn’t come with a lift on it. TRD Pros have a lift. Block and spacers are not advisable for off roading.

I’d go with Bilstein 5100 shocks
I don’t personally like blocks. But 1” blocks in the rear isn’t “too bad”.
You’d be better off with an add-a-leaf or full pack. But that’s more expensive and more labor.

If you don’t don’t do a lot of off-road or hardcore off-roading you will probably be just fine with 5100’s and small blocks in the rear. If you’re just looking to level the truck, then all you need is the front 5100s
    The 5100s are adjustable.

Lift is a relative term OP, basically any suspension on an off road type vehicle is theoretically considered a lifted vehicle, now how much of a lift is dependent on what you’re after. The TRD Pros just have more of a lift than the TRD off road and sport and so forth, and the TRD off road had more of a lift than the base model Tacoma.
I second TnShooter, stay away from block lifts, get yourself a set of Bilstein 5100s front and rear. Talk to the supplier about whether or not you need to have them adjusted for taco lean (the driver’s side that is) or if all you need is a 1/4” spacer on the driver side. I’m not too familiar with the 5100s but i know they’re the business. I did upgrade my suspension to what the third gen Tacomas run and it netted me a little less than an inch of lift in the front. I did need to include a 1/4” spacer on the driver side though as they are non adjustable struts.

Body mount chop, also referred to as a CMC (cab mount chop).

It’s odd how some have to to BMC and others do not. Wonder if it’s the wheels they choose, the lift or combo of both

Yes. Offset and width along with clearance from a lift makes a huge difference.

I run 285/75/17s with a 2.5" lift, CMC and pinch.
I still rub a tiny bit under full compression and full lock, but 0 rubbing day to day.

no body chop, thought i do get some Rub when turning if under some compression, thought I'm on some aftermarket KMC wheels and the liner and flair has some trimming on a 285/75 17 BFG

though I'm not sure what my lift is any more as my ARB bumper and 12k winch have some weight and my rear suspension leaf's are really badly warn.
