    Great idea

I ended up getting a bunch out of the supply line in the engine bay. Sitting in a clear bottle on my bench now to go see if it separates.

Just get that tank down to an 8th and drive mellow to the station.

The experiment will still be there after you are ripping down the road!

One suggestion though, in your vid I noticed coolant temp of 86 if I remember correctly. Unless you are reading celcius, you want to wait until the engine has fully and thouroughly warmed up before giving the beans. Even when coolant temp is good your eng, trans, diff, etc may be cold. Especially in your climate.
No offense, just trying to help your engine and head gaskets last longer. :D

anti-siphon is easy to work around with a smaller hose and disconnect the filler tube. I've done it on plenty of off-road trails when someone less prepared ran out of gas.

Anyone looking for a red anodized URD 2.825 pulley? Ill let it go cheap to ya. It will give just the right amount of boost your looking for!!! I went to a different size myself and have no use for it sitting in my pile of parts. I’d rather get a couple bucks and in return get someone super boosted!! .......let me know.

You got that red pulley off with out bending it?? Or did you never install it? Before I had my stealth 2.85 I was gonna get a red one but it turned into a cone by the time it removed it self from the truck lol.

    Puzzling update:

Today during lunch I went to get on the freeway and BOOM, back to normal. Timing 12* and rises with RPMs. Feels great. But ... I still hadn't put the octane booster in, still 1/2 tank of the same gas that I thought was the culprit. So,

Also- after leaving the fuel for a few hours it didn't separate, so it doesn't have water in it.

When the shop handed it to me in a clear plastic bag, I started smiling because I figured it was gonna be thrashed but they were just giving me back my parts. It virtually looks like I never installed it.

It must have just been a case of extremely diluted gas. I have seen a case where it loses its potency before but is not water contaminated.

As previously mentioned, go to fuel stations that are known for high traffic as their fuel reserves are cycled through constantly.

Your tune didnt detect as much knock this time (may have been on the threshold of ignition timing maps) so it brought back your lost timing. It is hard to explain but the ecu uses multiple ignition maps depending on how much knock it senses. It doesnt know octane, only how much knock is present. If knock is excessive the ecu will pull timing by changing to the "low octane" map.
On your last drive, the ecu must not have sensed as much knock so it switched out of the low octane map into a more advanced map.
It very well may come back with the same tank of gas and no octane boost so please top off the tank after adding octane booster and let us know how it does.

There is a lot going on in the ecu. Give it some fresh fuel and you will both be happy.

I completely agree with all that. And I think you need a 2.825 red anodized pulley from URD. Luckily for you.......I have one I can sell you cheap. Let me know. Happy Friday !! o_O

@RyanL did you do a negative battery disconnect for 10min? that may do a soft reset on things. glad youre back boostin brother!

Getting started on my quest. Replacing the fuel pump with a proper one before I go tearing into the engine bay. For those who care, I got 90% loss compression on piston #4 on leak down test (air hissing from oil filler = leak into crank case = gotta take ‘er apart). Who knows, I might end up with a stroker engine when I’m done.

Thanks again for all the advice guys, I really appreciate it. Will top it off with some top tier + octane booster & report back. Headed out of the country on a work trip so it may be a couple weeks till I really know.

@JuanitoBunito that would be rad ... I’m holding out for 2.7 now though brother!
