Anyone with an afe pro dry s filter notice some tiny dust getting through the filter? Is this something I should be concerned with?

 

Maybe just time for a cleaning. Do you have the bottom rear plugged or unplugged??

 

Unplugged. My fender hole is exposed too because I don’t have fender liners.

 

Doesn’t look saturated but a cleaning will only help.

 

Just washed my truck here at the firehouse. I too don’t have the rubber plug in. I noticed a bunch of dirt collected in that opening while cleaning the motor. It looks like I’ll be popping off the cover tomorrow to inspect my filter as well.

 

Yeah. Thats all inside the filter and a little bit in the air tube. Filter was extremely dirty and I should probably clean it again soon as some of the fins seemed to still be dirty. I think even the stock filter let some muck through, my work truck has the same motor and the 2nd filter looks very dirty. I have thought about relocating my battery and putting in a diesel tractor air filter box over there. I just don’t know if it’s really worth the hassle. Sending my third oil change to blackstone to have them test it. We will see if the silica is higher this run.

 

Iirc volant offers a donaldson for their intake

 

Any particulate matter past the filter is not good, no matter how small. Interested in the Blackstone results. Please post.

 

Does the volant not cause lean conditions with the maf anymore?

Gadget may be able to help with maf calibrator

 

I've got a maf calibrator for sale. $100 shipped. I installed it, couldn't get support from gadget, and left it unhooked under my dash for a year before taking it out of the truck and trying to sell it. It has the map sensor for boosted applications. Just needs the correct tune out in for your setup and I have up on urd after dealing with this.

I’d rather not mess with the maf sensor as I don’t know how that will play with my ovtune. It seems volant may have solved their issue in a newer revision of their intake. I emailed afe to see if this is considered acceptable to them. If anything I am going to try and mount the volant scoop to my afe box, maybe that will help it pick up less junk. I wonder if the urd amsoil filter would fit in the afe box. Might have to call gadget on that one.
Edit: and thats a negatory. Urd filter will not fit on the afe
