Nice!! So have you taken the engine apart yet? Curious if the piston rings were in good shape with that many miles. Or was it solely just a bent valve.

Curious why sell the FICs and get the URD ones? Why not run the FIC and run the 2.6? (Just bought @DocME FICs so curious)

I run the UCON and they are not easily compatible. Also Gadget has had bad experience with them. Had them flow tested and inspected.
If I pushed, they will try to tune the set, but they would have to charge verse a free calibration file update. That update is specific to their set, I guess. I do not know enough to judge if the injectors are truly of quality or not, and he is just showing one instance of a bad set.
Who wants to make someone do a tune when they don't want to? Assuming poor results would be had. Getting closer to switching to the HPTuner. Sucks cause otherwise I've been very happy with the UCON. But I'm ready to step it up

I’d go as far as to say Gadget has Never had a set of FIC 1GR injectors in his hands.

Staight up, if he’s going to charge you extra to tune them, that tells me everything right there. His motivation is to push his warez do as little as possible to collect the biggest profit margin.

Im not going to let him slander the injectors he doesn’t sell, which made their name doing ONLY injectors.

I will personally fund the testing. Who had spare SD and FICS? Contact me and I’ll have them tested independently.

I have Injector Dynamics injectors. Rolex's if you will. That influence rolled over to a friend with an X-1. Predecessor to the UCON. Could not dial them in well. Pulled the injectors.

It is not the injectors. It is the method in which the devices take inputs for injector dwell/dead times and implements that data to function.

I have had problems with my UCon not working well with URDs 61lb siemens/deka injectors, so i honestly think its a crap shoot. My truck was misfiring, running rough, leaning out, and causing me major drivability issues with my 61lb'ers and the UCon. I pulled the blower 4 times troubleshooting things. Then finally I got sick of it, put the TRD 455s back in, had it retuned and its back to normal. After that i added a 7th injector and water/methanol for more fuel and called it a day.

So long story short, i think if you want to keep the UCon go with a 7th for more fuel so you can keep your nice trouble free 455s. If you want bigger injectors get the flow matched FICs and have @JustDSM help you get them dialed in via HPtuners

Interesting to hear your story/history. I knew you had issues, but wasn't aware exactly what they were.

For anyone with FIC 650's I'll post some baseline settings you can use to get them running straight away. Each truck/set will need minor tweaking depending on the specific flow rate of your matched set. But these figures will get you running and very close.

For starters, use an Injector Const. value of 0.065000 (you'll have to observe fuel trims to fine tune this value It may be anywhere from 0.0620000 to 0.075000)

Next, you'll want to go to your Injector offset vs. IGNV table and rescale the x-axis (voltage) to match your supplied data sheet. Those values should be 8.0, 10.0, 12.0, 14.0, 16.0 however confirm that with your data sheet. Then you'll input the corresponding dwell times in your datasheet that corresponds to the specific referenced voltage. These values should be in the neighborhood of 2.0320, 1.3920, 1.0400, 0.8000, 0.6400

It's all risky. The UCON could just die in the middle of know where and I would be in deep do-do. I like the idea of a flashed ECU better, less non factory parts. Plus the UCON masks other feedback that I would like when using the BT OBD2 dongle and Torque.

Anyone have a TRD flashed ecu for sale? 2008 4X4 V6 manual.
He did state that he had them flow tested, the spray pattern was horrible and that the tip looked like someone had taken a dental drill to them? All I can imagine is someone modded a set of the FIC injectors and he somehow ended up with them. I know it's popular in the Subaru community to increase the output of the injectors. Learned recently that is not a reliable method.

I have limited access to a garage, live in the cold north, always have to be strategic with my mod days. And this is my daily driver so I cannot take the time to test some of this stuff how I'd like.

I'm certain folks here can get you squared away with a TRD Calibration. Check out http://www.car-part.com for an ECU.

I have an ecu for a manual transmission. I would need to know the ecu number. It is stock, no red tune.
