Is the URD flange to motor thicker? Wondering why just the lower. Only needed on 2012+ due to Air pump needs? I have been using stock studs through a couple changes. I did get ARP nuts though.

 

I think it is just a cost saving measure. It is easier to install the stud through the flange in the lowers. So they just provide them instead of people breaking and destroying stock and trying to reuse. In addition, the top three on the passenger side are longer due to SAIS which would create a different parts package. It is probably just simpler and cheaper only sending out 6 studs.

 

Dang man, sorry to hear this. Who did you order from? I typically order thru jegs or summit and its always packed good. Sounds like fedex man was having a bad day

 

@DiamondW didn't you have to chase the threads on your truck to be able to use the ARP studs for your headers? Id hate to see folks that want to throw these in start running into problems with that

 

I had to chase the treads on the arp studs to make them work. I found the studs were not cut deep enough. I spent a long time on the phone with ARP but when my brand new Snap on chase pulls this

from the stainless stud, and then it goes in the head after that with out a problem, the studs are the problem. I hand chased all of them and got them in, but man did it suck.

 

So do we have to order header studs from dezod or the ls ones work

think the stud conversion for the headers is based on how they go in/fit. its a squeeze for sure so im thinking thats why. yes, i ordered my methanol through jegs a few times but lately its a big mess at my front door.

 

Hope they make things right for ya. I have had the jugs start leaking just sitting on a shelf. Had to empty the container into another. Mine split at the bottom in the middle

 

Your way worked as well. On the '03-'04 heads, the studs fit without hesitation. On the '05+ the head tolerance is tighter.

All depends on the installer.

 

i gave up chasing studs.
