TRD/ Magnuson 4.0 Supercharger Tips, Tricks, and Mods

I know I'm days behind, but trips to Mexico require speeds much faster than 75. Why just yesterday I was on a closed course...

 

Have most of you added mods to the supercharger over time or during initial installation with the supercharger? I would like to add the 2.825 pulley, aFe intake, and gauges at initial install. Is there anything additional you could recommend for efficiency and performance? A fuel pump and exhaust are things I think could wait.

 

If your going beyond stock pulley, fuel pump is required. Some disagree. I would do gauges above all else. Data is a good thing. Then you can track the changes.

 

It's frequently easier to install mods as part of the initial install, but it can be done both ways. Best advice is to skip the 2.85" pulley in favor of Quickchange setup. Gauges are definitely a good idea, as is the fuel pump. Exhaust can wait.

+1 to most of this, but I'm in the "it depends" group when it comes to the fuel pump. IMO, it's always recommended but, how "required" it is, depends on the elevation where you drive, how small a pulley you plan to run, and your driving style. The lower your elevation, smaller your pulley, and more aggressively you drive, the more "required" it becomes. Gauges (i.e., AFR and fuel pressure) should help determine the urgency of need.

It is the diamond-lined, platinum-plated, solid gold mother of all intercooler tanks from Figgs. Those running it are a very select group of connosieurs - @ThomasMore66 blazed the trail followed by @JuanitoBunito.

The tank is on my wish list, but hasn't risen above the cut line in priority yet.

I'll say this about the fuel pump, I had (kinda still have that setup) except add in a 3" exhaust as well...I noticed during super hard pulls down in mexico that i had some flat spots in my power band where it felt like the truck would just run out of power. Tried in a few different gears and mostly 4th gear or higher towards the upper RPM range it would just stop pulling hard. Couldn't figure it out. Consensus was fuel pump....so I got the DW 255 (i think, i dont remember, whatever "not stock") and never felt those flat spots in power again. So I'm "pro fuel pump upgrade if you do any other mods after the blower."

 

So I have a 2014 Supercharged Taco with a 2.8" pulley and CAI. Looking to get a little more umph for my truck so looking into getting headers. Do you guys have a brand that you recommend? Don't mind spending money for a quality brand.

 

What CAI. Exhaust? Ypipe? Engine's gotta breath my friend.

 

aFe cold air, stock TRD exhaust. Planned to upgrade the exhaust system if I get headers.

I can't argue with any of that, but I'm guessing most of your "super hard pulls down in mexico" were done well-below the 7K ft elevation where I live and drive. I also rarely run at WOT. Between the elevation and my driving style, I rarely see more than ~3psi of boost and almost never see more than ~5psi. (For me WOT = ~7psi.)
