I’ll be finding a dyno once my motor is all done. Very curious. I’m praying for over 400 but the number isn’t a real big deal for me. I love my truck and will be happy with what it makes. If I want it faster I will have to save for a t56 swap. Will be night and day difference. I didn’t go stroker but with internals in lower compression and kelford cams and some port and polishing work. I feel like it will get the job done.

Do you have to worry about state emissions testing? Otherwise, did you consider a larger blower like the Rotrex/centrifugal charger for the future? Obviously it's fun to build and see where you get with your current set up but I think you'd get into the 400s much easier with a cheat code lol. We used to compensate every little bit, up the compression slightly with high CR pistons/thinner headgasket, ARP studs everywhere, run tighter ring clearances, lighter weight oil on race days (depending on duration). I really appreciate all you're going through. Can't wait to see after the break-in.

Seems like we have to take advantage of it all on our 1GRs

The t56 is by far the worst transmission ive ever shifted. Granted i dont have a manual tacoma so take that for what its worth. Driven bmw/vw/honda/nissan

The T56 is pretty garbage I agree and so is the Tacos as well as far as shift quality goes. I believe their notchy shifting has to do with an imprecise shifter though, as I have noticed many folks with both transmissions (GTO and Taco) remedied their clunky and just overall sloppily feeling assemblies with the installation of a Hurst short shifter and a TRD short shifter for each of the trannys respectively which solved all of the horrid feelings entirely.

I have a mgw on it. Itll occassionally get locked out of first gear at stops if you happened to not put in while rolling. 2/3rd have slow synchros (might just need new ones)

Yeah I remember reading a lot about bad synchros as well. Auto or manual, no one is exempt from issues right? Lol.

The MGWs were good short throw shifters as well. I guess these are just the pains of high horsepower.

Emissions in NY are simple enough to pass. no sniffer or visual inspection. Just a safety check and no check engine light or pending codes. If or when the larger blower becomes available for us - I can see myself getting it or maybe someday I'll join to dark side with @Torspd and get a whistlin wirly boy

Most counties in CA recently changed to this. Just plugged up to see the monitor systems working. But visual is a pain. Still need carb legal stickers on everything. And luckily they didn't comment on the DT Ypipe but the resonators almost pass for cats. I want to follow the whistly whirly swirly path!

Got a new twin scroll turbine inlet flange. Each inlet is 2" tubing. Next month I have plans to mock up and fab that one in. Reducers to 2.25" and some bends, and shouldn't take too long. Currently a tangential inlet, into a twin scroll turbine housing. Not making use of the efficiency that it could. Should make it much more responsive, even for the size of the turbo and the inlet A/R. Means boost quicker. :D

I pulled out the restricter jet thingy before a long road trip from Denver to Dallas this past week. OMG. Made a huge difference with getting rid of that lag! I was passing people like a pro! lol. Should have done this three years ago.

    Yes
As far as the actual y-pipe diameter though, is there any benefit to having it be 3" or is it best to keep it 2.5", then to a 3" flange/v band for the remainder of the 3" "cat back" portion? Doing a brief search, it seems as if most headers are 2.5 at the collector so im thinking the 2.5" y pipe to 3" exhaust may be best?

Mine is 3”collector to a 3” URD Mark lll exhaust. Prior to the jfr I had a URD y-pipe. All I can say is it flows/runs much better now. It also sounds dramatically better....

Nice! I am currently running your old setup, URD Y into a TRD cat back. I'm also switching to the JFR Y and a 3" URD. Good to know it all sounds awesome, I cant wait to get rid of the rasp and choke of my current setup.

Finally able to rev it up a little as the tune is getting closer to right and I feel more comfortable pushing it some (big thanks to @JustDSM ). Maxed out my maf sensor as low as 5450rpm. Prior to the engine work- I didn't hit this till ~57xx rpm. As for boost- i'm able to hit 8 currently might get 9 on an extra cold day. Time to look into re-scaling the maf sensor numbers again.log pic.jpg
