TRD/ Magnuson 4.0 Supercharger Tips, Tricks, and Mods

MIG welder is your friend. Took me a good amount of time to TIG that all on. Good 309 SS rods. The welds will outlast the frame.

 

I would definitely prefer to burn these in on a lift though. I admire guys that can weld upside down pinched under a truck.

 

Had too many other projects to complete, or we would also have installed the NST pulleys. Word is that we'll install them when the s/c goes on.

 

I’ve only caught myself on fire twice. The truck a few more times lol. But only needed an extinguisher once

 

LOL. I have the wet towels and fire extinguishers ready for the tubbing expedition of the wheel wells.

 

Thankfully I have had to do much body welding. MIG for certain with that kind of work.

 

As did I, but that matting under the carpet is just so damn flammable lol.

 

Do you think NST is harmonically balancing these SC crank pulleys?

 

Doubtful. As that is an added expense. Just my opinion though.

 

Oh yeah, then yeah, that's what I have.

The BAMF skid mounts incredibly close to the control arms. Like the zerks almost hit it close.

The mounting is also DRAMATICALLY different over OE style TRD skid.

I was thinking the same. I’m gonna drill holes out of my NST sc crank pulley like the group buy. Part of me wants to go old school and just use a drill press and calipers.

Or be safe and hit up my friends CNC mill

 

Don’t have to cut off. Can use the marlin with the TC. Just have to shave an 1/8” off the marlin for it to fit.

 

One of the best mods for the boosted crowed IMO is swapping the open diff for a Detroit TrueTrac. I swapped my Open/TRD locker 8.0 for a 8.4 w/ a Detroit TrueTrac and the ability to put the power to the ground is completely night and day. No more one wheel burn outs or failure to launch due to wheel spin. It completely transforms the trucks ability to gain traction and accelerate. I cannot recommend it enough.

Super dumb question, but can you have an e-locker or air locker set up with the Detroit truetrac?
