hows that extra work? its the easiest way for me to get to the tensioner is underneath, the belt going around the crank is right there. why not just pull that off?

If you are pulling the belt off, I mean I guess that is one way to remove it and do the replacement, but even with that fat old Roush tensioner I got I have never had to pull a thing off to remove the belt just to do work.

Changing the belt usually requires tensioner assembly removal as a whole, yeah, but not to do other work.

There is a deep part built into the fan clutch so the breaker goes in further to allow for the belt to get loose to remove. I use a big 26" craftsman 1/2" rachet to get in there and it's a tight fit with the Roush tensioner but it works.

To actually remove the belt @White lightning boosted when I am alone (which I just about always am) I just ready the belt in the orientation it needs to be then I hold the belt from above while moving the rachet to move the tensioner with my foot. This allows me free use of my hands to mess with the belt up top. My skid plate allows to tuck in the breaker if and when I need it to be held for a bit, but it's usually a quick put it on and let go deal.

im not removing anything other than the belt. i pull the belt off the pully that attaches at the crank. my short ass arms have issues doing it from the top pulley on the supercharger. at no point am i pulling any parts off to remove a supercharger belt

I shaved the snout equal to the diameter of the hub.

Before I put in my e-fan so I could do it from above, I used to relieve tension with my (ratcheting) breaker bar and then jam about a 2.5' length of 1/2" drive extension between the tensioner and the ground to hold it in place while I went up top and pulled the belt off the pulley. I understand your truck is lifted though, so that might not work.

I don't always screw things up, but when I do, I'm actually screwing them down.

So my buddy with the NA X-runner has what sounds like a valve lifter tick. He doesn't have any apparent loss in power. Any ideas for what this could be and/or to check?

You are ABSOLUTELY sure you have it maxed out? With the fan on I have no issues putting it back on. New or old belt. You have a larger pulley somewhere or something is off.

What size did you buy, a 69.0" belt?
