    The SDHQ ones suck.

Now, before you take my comment at surface value like many would right off the gate, let me explain. From a functionality standpoint they work incredibly well and for that I will not knock them at all, but the rubber they use is so cheap that my boots cracked and eventually split, letting out all of the grease all over my beautiful undercarriage in less than 2 years. So longevity wise if you are looking for something that works well and lasts, they suck.

Good feedback. Like I said, I’ve only managed to keep from damaging them for about a year.

The allpro ones definitely feel like a cheaper rubber, but they seem like the kind that will last long before drying out and cracking. If that makes sense.

The SDHQ stuff feels well built from the getgo but unfortunately suffers from dry rot, as the rubber doesn't seem to be treated or it's just straight virgin rubber with no EPDM in it or anything of that nature to ensure longevity.

I'd be curious to check out the All pros, but ultimately a Silicone variant which is properly molded to fit correctly without butchering old boots to make work would be the awesome route to go on these trucks. I don't know for the life of me why it doesn't exist.

    Now the dummy question...

How important is it that all the valve shims are within spec. This is a 215k mile engine that never had a valve job and messing with the current cups. I could see where over normal wear could have sent it out of spec. I plan on doing the top end in a couple months or sooner.

So just found out some info about outer boots and Toyota OEM parts. Apparently there is a 4Runner set that is lil better than the standard tacoma. And it’s 04427 60141. Why doesn’t Toyota just make a high end Tacoma like the 4Runner?!

because they have us by the stones going to the dealer or less than amazing aftermarket. maybe along with the HPS radiator hose endeavour they could make a badass product. with color choices too. whats the hose status with HPS anyway.

My inner boots on my cv joints are silicone and still look great. Why don’t they make an outer silicone boot?!

Hoses and CV boots in the silicone variety would be AMAZING.

Did it require dissecting the OE boot to use below the CV as some sort of "spacer?"

    @Flake Boost @findingthingsout @Murphinator @SUMOTNK @Torspd

Thanks everyone. I'll start doing my research on AFR and boost sensor/gauge installs. Any recommendations on brands? Is this a fairly straight forward DIY? To reference my level of mechanical ability, I've done the anytime backup camera, ultragauge, snorkel, and brake rotors/pads.

i have aem x-seriers gauges. if you are proficient with a screwdriver and basic tools youre good. the rest is a simple add-a-fuse for power and identifying a good ground point. ive done my 6 gauges myself. if i can do it that cross eyed monkey awaiting the next shampoo/makeup test can to. if you need advice feel free to pm me.

    My shit is all stock.
I'd say that it's pretty important.

You're in there now aren't ya? You don't want to do this all over again in a few months do you?

I am going to go through this whole thing in a few months though. I'm going to build the lower and upper. Sleeves, BC lower, Kelford upper...

I'm finding none of the cups are off the shelf. No one stocks them. All are ordered on demand./
