I only see one? And I’m just guessing that’s why he thinks that. I do t know.

 

I could be wrong as it’s hard to see in the picture, but I only see 1 tube support between the outer tube and “main tube” as I like to call it. And again hard to see but do you have 2 or 3 legs going to the frame? 3 is alright, 4 is better, 2 is not enough. DOM helps if it is 0.120” wall and will be better than hrew, but anything thinner than that will bend for rock sliders.

Less supports between the outer and main tube will allow it to bend like my old ones.


Granted these held up for almost 8 years before this happened.

So it is 0.120 wall DOM. It has 1 support between the outer and main tube, and 3 legs to the frame.

 

3 legs to the frame will be fine but I’d add 2 more legs between the main and outer tube if you can and if you plan on putting them to good use.

My new ones are all 1/4” wall, 4 legs to the frame, 4 between the main and outer tube, and 3/16” plate along the whole frame. Way overkill, but should be bomb proof.

 

Over engendered. This is the way.

My trucks trajectory is more towards desert racing over rock crawling, so the occasional bash on these sliders should buff out.

Yeah I treat my truck like it’s an ultra 4 car. Hard in the desert and then bash through the rocks.

Sliders weighed in at 85lbs each. Not including the 5’ of 3/16” frame plating. So easily over 100lbs per side. Just wait until I redo my skid plates and flat bottom the truck. That’ll probably be another 200lbs. 200lbs of bumpers, roll cage, engine cage, 5 37” tires... yeah the truck would barely move without the supercharger

no it is not my tacoma. its a clients vehicle. look at the front of the block. lol!
i did all the timing components and valve guide seals when i installed the super charger. oh yeah, i now only burn about a quart of oil per 5k miles instead of every 800-1000 miles.

thats still more oil use than i like. ill just put a longer dipstick in if the red teapot light starts to make consistent visits

 

i have never had that light come on.

I would just run thicker oil viscosity. Instead of 5-30? 10-40 and move on with my life.
