That tells more about the tech than anything else. You actually made his job easier with the arms, he just doesn't a) know how to use them to his advantage b) doesn't care enough about his work to care to use them.

Shit bolted onto other shit, and junk.
I have at least fourteen alignments on my lifetime alignment from Firestone. Great techs at my current one and very few issues. Lifetime alignments for the truck for the cost of two ($180).

    Hey guys,

I'm about to tear into the truck and swap on the NST pulleys and fix my oil leak(s). Any tips on the NST installs? Or removal of stock pulleys? Tools required, things to make it easier, etc. I always seem to run into issues or have problems, so I'm trying to prep and be ready this time. I already picked up a Puller for the crank pulley. Currently the blower tensioner is off an both belts are off.

Oh, and the leak is definitely from the crank bolt being loose. once I popped the belts off, it was obvious. I could grab the S/C crank pulley and wiggle it quite a bit.

Grease the steel sleeve on the crank pulley when installing as per @Torspd wisdom.

Crank pulley shouldn't need a puller but the bolt needs either a good impact or I bumped my starter with all ignition fuses out, a breaker bar on the bolt and wedged against the frame and the shifter in neutral.
The alt pulley needs a good impact and possibly a strap wrench to keep the pulley from spinning.

Appreciate it. I've already pulled the crank bolt once, and used the bump starter method. So all good there. My air impact wont buzz off the alt pulley.. wonder if I can get my 1/2" impact in there after I take the fan off... hmmm..

i bought an aftermarket shroud and oem tank. aftermarket shroud doesnt have a notch in the bottom for the fan clutch like oem. makes it a bit less fun. i have an oem tacoma one here but it doesnt have the same cut out. maybe others have a pic to share. both are doable but oem is easier.

maybe a leather strap and channel locks with the gun? i realize a wobble joint would take away some needed tq value.

I took the fan off for the job. The alt pulley was a pain. I didn't have a powerful enough impact and my strap wrenches couldn't hold my pulley enough so I took some bitey knipex channel locks to hold the old pulley. Got the fucker off and scratched up and realized I had the stepped pulley (the step is hidden really well until u pull it off) and a flat nst pulley that wouldn't work. Sent the pulley back this week to get the right one.

Just did cam gears and going to do some porting on the SC and other stuff so the truck isn't moving for a couple of weeks at least.
