a fuel pump and afr gauge i believe are the most important items to install for adequate start to modding. please.....check all your parts BEFORE dropping the tank. i had my kit with me when @crashnburn80 did his. he was shorted 1 electrical connector for the in tank wiring. it was sunday iirc and had i not had one to loan we would have dropped the tank for merely practice.

are you running premium fuel? i found even grocery store premium sucks here. if you have a performance vechicle tuned for it and run low grade you are doing yourself a disservice.

I’d clean my MAF sensor and make sure your new injectors are seated properly and not leaking fuel. And swap out my wrafs for new ones @nudavinci64

Yeah, that was a lifesaver. I would have just left it off at that point till I got the part rather than calling it practice and dealing with that again.

true. dropping a tank wasnt so bad but disconnecting/reconnecting that top was less than fun.

Yah for sure. Def check parts list is a must. I won't be doing an external filter out of the gate. As long as the instructions note all the correct parts I should be good.I checked the other day and seemed to have all the required parts.

Yah I hear the connection parts i hear are the pain. I def have to go at it from the bottom and drop the tank. Going from the top is not an option.

What's your tire pressure, and is your speedo calibrated to your tire size?

Once you get the fuel lines disconnected you’re set. The rest isn’t bad unless you’re like me the first time I did it and had a full tank. But knowing your mpg’s you don’t keep a full tank around too long huh :boink:

But back on the mpg note, you definitely have something electro-mechanical going on that’s causing the excess fuel consumption. Dirty air filter, plugs, MAF, throttle body, brakes dragging, or a heavy ass foot and lots of hills. (I know you mentioned checking a few of these) The only time I get that bad is when I’m towing, or playing in the dunes/ desert.

30's give or take. Prob at 32 or 34 right now. Yes I have a hypertech inline which has it pretty close to GPS speed.

I was having some MPG issues before and chalked it up to a bunch of those things. But with the new install of the S/C Air filter, plugs are new, MAF is new due to fj hybrid intake, TB got a deep cleaning during right before and during the install so was hoping for a big improvement because a few of those were toast. Also has new oil, new coolant, some new dif/transfer oil, lubed a few other things. its had a lot of maintenance.

I have contemplated that the brakes could be dragging in the front. When I was going through this before I thought that could be an issue but was still getting better MPG. It was bad but not this bad. Late last year I swapped in wilwood Aero 6 pistons and did have some back and forth on the adapters with rr-racing. The brakes themselves are pretty much new with only a few thousand at best on them but one idea I was thinking. If the caliper is off center at all would that cause any dragging on the brakes given the pistons do not contact evenly? Not sure that is happening but taking a stab at some things.

i know, dcsb means tank drop. btw, walbro 255 is great. it ONLY has an external fuel filter choice. why have an in tank filter when you can do it externally for cheap and quick?

    parts and stuff

i gained about 2-3 mpg with my canopy. the spare tire on the swing out is a big air brake and with the canopy it negates alot of that problem

Fuel filter, or injectors. Those are my guesses.

very true. huge air obstruction like a spare may be a parachute for n/a trucks.
