Excellent info as usual bud. These blowers are very well built for what they are and can stand the test of time if treated well for sure. I feel that Magnuson perfected their roots blowers and quality of workmanship after Gen 4 blowers as well I should put out there.

Yup they are extremely well built. If only TRD designed and relocated the battery for the air intake.

Thank you I will add that to the list!

Well after a long day of wrenching, whining, and 3 trips to parts stores I finally got the ripp coils, FIC injectors, new battery, and new belt installed. I attempted to adjust my bypass but it didn’t seem to do what everyone said so I just eye balled it and called it good enough. Base tune from @JustDSM went on and it’s running like a scalded cat!

    Much better eh?

It's amazing how much better the truck runs once you tune it and run it based on what it demands. Once you meet those demands it just breathes harmoniously down the road. I'll be honest with you the truck has never run this smooth at idle on my own. It feels smooth as glass and the cruise RPM just hums along so nice now. I attest that to the Rutheniums, the new coils and the FIC LSx fuel injectors though, oh and definitely the tune! After running it balls to the wall on the last tank many many times I still managed to get 236 out of the tank before needing a fill up. Not a bad victory all things considered!

Yeah man the idle and cruising ability really shocked me. It runs smooth as glass now. I am not sure the new coils are adding any extra power but I will wait to get my tune fully dialed in before I decide that. If anything they would probably help people on the trd base tune burn some extra fuel because I feel like they are louder than stock, of course that could just be the new fic injectors also.

I'll tell you one thing is for sure. Jumping from OE coils to these all other things remaining the same outside of this mod it does feel smoother overall. That much I know.

Based on overall knock feedback trend logs before vs. after that I took prior to and after installing them I have noticed the feedback for extra timing being requested appears to be less than before both at cruise and at load. That either means one of two things. The hotter burn these are supposed to have over stock packs is enough to the point where it is either making the extra spark to allow for extra timing wanted by the PCM in the RPM band, or they are actually slightly WEAKER than OE packs and are causing the knock sensor to decrease it's desire for extra timing under load. Based on the fact I actually see more knock in one singular event in my log increase vs what it was before, as well as the smoother idle and smoother overall cruise after adding them, that might actually indicate that they are slightly hotter than OE.

I'll upload some screenshots so you can see.

    @Murphinator

These snapshots are of the original logs pre RIPP coils

    originallogcatless.jpg

    originallogcatless2.jpg

These snapshots are post install of the RIPP coils

Notice the knock FB is quieted down at around cruise RPM and is also a little down in the upper RPMs as well.

Very interesting indeed. I think there is no doubt they are hitting harder than stock, they have to be. I just wasn’t sure if it was translating to real world power. I took the truck for a longer drive and god damn it just drives so happy now. I am interested to see how my mpgs are going to AZ next week. Last year I got 15.3 avg just traveling there and back.
I may change my front wheel bearings out tomorrow. They aren’t bad yet but I do hear them a little bit. After fighting with the truck today I am not sure I want to deal with it though lol.

Just get it done and enjoy it man. After all that work you deserve to enjoy some peaceful drive time worry free with the truck. Just a few more hours and get it done.

Based on the logs I have reason to believe they hit harder which is causing it to run smoother. Even if slight I'm sure it's helping. I will be tracking MPG as I always do and if I see an increase under my normal circumstances I will be sure to report it. Hell, I'll be sure to report it regardless.

You are not wrong my good man! I really should have bit the bullet and installed my cam gears today. I also wanna do my lightweight pullies. I need to acquire more expensive tools to accomplish those jobs I think..(I may just have a problem). I am interested in your findings. I have changed a lot so I am not sure if I will be able to tell if it's just the coils.

You will never be able to tell unless you de-mod one by one. Each mod, however, has smoothed out the engine in succession on top of the other as far as idle quality goes. I only know this because I did the plugs, followed by injectors, followed by coils in that order one after the other with many miles logged in between to see what differences could be noticed over previous. The engine has also seemed to be a little more sure footed in its power delivery into the RPM band as well as it progresses up into WOT with each mod. Not necessarily more power than before, but surely better sounding and more confident in its ability to handle that power going through it for lack of better words.

You should had installed the cam gears for sure. You were right there. The pulleys are incredibly easy to install as well. Damn man. If you like the power delivery now, you would DEFINITELY like it after the cam gears and the lighter pulleys! I'll upload a video right now so you can see all of the mods you have with the addition of the cam gears and lightweight pulleys in action.

Scroll to 4:06 - 4:17, that's my one and only WOT run on the log. 43-88 mph run. That's a 45 mph gain run with the fully modded setup. If you want to see my build, check my "My build" thread in my signature. This video should give you an idea of how fast you'll wind up and all that fun stuff if you are running a 2.8 with all of the mods I have.
