That's so stupid. Water literally cleans out the combustion chamber and can prevent carbon deposits, which is known to cause misfires or high HC's. Literally what they test for when doing smog checks or can cause the CEL to come on.

ha I just messaged him about that too. I have been playing around with some seat swaps and was looking into some aftermarket kits. When I pulled my blanks off the wire for what I assume are seat heaters is already there. I am curious if we have all the wiring and controllers present in the truck already. Need to track down where the regulator in the limited is. If it was part of the seats (which high probability it is) then that will not work.

If anyone knows if the parts (minus seats) are already in the truck that would be fantastic. I need to go back and check but I think even the fuse box has a fuse for seat heaters already as well.

The seats I am looking to retrofit in may have regulators already built into them as well which I need to confirm.

But either way I do miss having seat warmers in a vehicle.

Did a bit of searching and it seems water is “fine” but might depend on the smog tech.

AEM has a CARB approved water injection kit. No mention of methanol.

That would not fly since the tacoma is not listed if we were looking for CA carb friendly.

hell yes! with factory switches! i mated the aftermarket elements. china has the wire colors all fucked up. like ground is red, power is black, etc. took many tries but i did it. one of my favorite mods for an achey back in the cold times.

    Nice! 4:88’s?

Got a little axle work in the mail too. 934 cvs adapted to stock inner stub shafts and 300m axles. Can’t wait to try these out. Thanks @81Trekker 0A7CBF5E-97B7-4329-B64C-EFE218C856B0.jpg

Nothing that extreme. Just compensating for larger tires. 4.10 w/ Detroit Truetrac.

That kit is vehicle specific, and the Tacoma is mentioned nowhere in that Executive Order#.

Thanks. Another rabbit hole for me to dive down and ignore my family over the weekend.

@Roostfactor has already been in this thread, not discovering anything new:

Super interested now if water/meth would act as an adequate substitute to protect cat converters if you shut off the fuel quench protection.

Water is not a proper substitute for a combustible in a gasoline engine, only an aid and will not maintain a proper 14.7 air fuel ratio necessary for running an engine. Given that catalyst overtemp protection uses a tapered fueling strategy that drops AFR into richer range the more you lay into the pedal, the water would most likely not provide proper quench to act as a substitute for that fuel before it hydrolocks the engine.

I personally wouldn't attempt to substitute water injection in place of the COTP system.

Water should be seen as a cleaning agent/ combustion temp cooling agent only. Its primary benefit being a combustion temperature cooling agent, the cleaning agent being an added benefit, not an alternative fueling strategy on a gas powered engine.

What I'm saying if I'm saying anything at all, is that I would use water injection as a supplement to what you already have there, not as an alternative replacement if you want to make the dive into water injection.

Got it, thanks. Ready to pull the trigger on HPT. On a one night read through on water/meth I see no real down side other than keeping the tank full. The rest looks like all positives with a clean engine and overall lower temps under load. One thing at a time though...

So it turns out that water injection kits are overlooked by techs during the inspection and it's fully accepted by the CARB to do so.

    I'm getting water injection boys!

Looks like AEM and Snow Performance are the two frontrunners in my vast two hours of learning this is a thing we should be doing
    .

Already looked at a handful of other options but they don't seem as polished.

Back in the forums after a 9 month hiatus and trying to play catch up. Busy remodeling 2 houses to sell then buying a new one and adding a 2nd garage this summer. No internet at the new house in the boonies for a while. Picked up a 2001 3.4L 4runner as a daily driver along the way.

Did I miss any cool mods or group buys since about last November?

How are the Kelford cams working out? Anyone post a 400 whp dyno yet?

    What are you going with?

On my Lexus my plan was to have 3 stages. One water only with a tiny nozzle controlled by MAF. The other activated by boost at mid and peak boost.

I’ll either put the stuff on my Tundra or keep it on the Lexus if I do something crazy with it.

I have parts from almost every company. Snow controllers, Prometh nozzles/holders/etc, devils own nozzles and tanks
