Did you experience some sort of failure? Did the truck fail to do what you asked of it there at Chick-fil-A?

Imagine if you didn’t have that fancy gauge stoking the temperature paranoia. Turn that thing off and drive the truck. Airflow is very limited at idle. Temps will drop once you start moving.

    Oof! You win.

Toyota’s fix is to add a condenser fan. Just sayin. Doesn’t work with the blower tho.

Personally I just sealed the shit out of the core support area and maximized the air that the fan pulls through the radiator by adding all the seals that Toyota uses on the Mexico spec truck. Details in another thread about the ac not working well in the heat. If’n you care.

    Hey @JustDSM

Can you set things up to make the truck idle a bit higher in the heat? Like say, in a drive thru, or idling in a parking lot in neutral. I’ve noticed with my truck, the ac runs much cooler with the revs at say 1100 instead of 750.

I can set idle RPM against coolant temp for both with the truck in neutral or in gear independent of each other.

    [Edit]
There may be a way around this to some degree.. In the Idle/Airflow Tab, there is a specific parameter that will allow you to add a given amount airflow while stationary at idle with the A/C on. I've never experimented with this, but check out this parameter:

    ACAirflow.jpg

Adding some airflow here may do what your looking for without having to raise the base idle speed ALL the time... Hmm Anyone want to test?

Electric fans with ac speed control are awesome this time of year.

So many forest fires in recent years. Never fun when you can't see the sky and it feels like you're smoking two packs a day.

You have a CSF or make any changes? I was getting that and my shroud was not pulling the air due to a gap. funny I noticed it while in a drive through as well.
Also consider the fan clutch as mentioned

I dislike this statement a lot. Why would you sell the truck just because you don't like how the transmission is getting too hot?? You put so much time and effort and energy into it oh, do you really think you're going to find something better out there at this point?

I’m interested I basically did the same but to test it out. sealed up the shroud and it was night and day.

Anyone switch from a full bumper to a hybrid? I am pondering the idea as it has less coverage in some areas for more air flow into the engine. Also I could shed some weight overall
