How's your AFR gauge holding up?

My Speedhut AFR had issues after about two years of use, but Speedhut just upgraded the control board and even added the 5v output for tuning, free of charge. They are great to work with on the lifetime warranty.

 

I guess the material taken off the head gasket surfaces would result in slightly advanced valve timing?

 

I also use a Speedhut boost gauge. Because my truck is a PreRunner, I dont have that rotary dial for 2WD/4WD. Therefore, I mounted the boost gauge in that blank spot. AFR is rudimentarily monitored through my Ultragauge thats mounted in the overhead console.

 

Possibly on the exhaust, as it is static, but that could also be nullified by the chain tensioner. Compression will rise for certain.

 

Mine's all good, so far. (Installed about 14 months ago.)

right! I don’t disagree but the beauty of this is that you can play with the formula calculations to correct the reading. That’s why I am wondering if anyone had played with it to get a more accurate reading/formula.

 

Given how far off that is and lack of certainty that the variance is linear, I'm more comfortable using a dedicated sensor/gauge.

right, I understand that line of thought, so my question is what is that gauge measuring?
BLUF what is it wired and programmed to read?

Stock sensors and whatever the ecu sees and that's it. It's trying to make an educated guess on the boost from other parameters but that would be inaccurate at best. The stock afr sensors don't read wideband either so they aren't accurate for our uses either.

 

What is that gauge in the app measuring or what is an actual boost gauge measuring?

yah that boost is def wrong. for HP there is a setting where you need to calculate your speed difference and a few other things. if you do not adjust then a bunch of the settings are just estimates.
