So apparently a 69.5" belt works for a 3.0" pulley. I put one on my buddy's truck and he ran it for two years. When we put the 2.8" pulley on we re-used the belt. It was in very good condition.

it works on a 2.3 for me too. 69" rpm would not fit at all.

Ultimately, I’d like to do my own reflashing, as I was able to install the BD tune when the Toyota mechanic failed. With that said, it’s a DD and another ECU laying around won’t hurt, plus, I don't know how much time I will have on my hands.

A pre-tuned ECU would clearly be the easy button. If you want to PM me with cost options, that might be the best path forward. I’m looking to do this around Thanksgiving-Christmas.

For the rest of the group, what intake do you recommend? I’m looking at the AFE Magnum or Momentum line, but open to options. I will probable swap to a larger TB, should I find the right one.

In the end, I want to get the most out of my headers and SC.

i have the momentum with front scoop. great setup but takes up more room due to the football sized filter wide mouth. black friday is the best price to buy.

I like the idea of the front scoop. My 325i has a similar setup.

is there an issue on checking engine oil? I thought I read that somewhere. :notsure:

Yeah but just because it works does not mean it is right and it may ultimately end up shortening the life of the bearings due to excessive tension.

it is rather inconvienient. so i just dont check mine. put 5.5 in and run it. but if you choose to be very current its either a 2 handed game or two hose clamps. i think the inconvienience is quite minimal. afterall, its aftermarket and appealing to those wanting more flow. im not sorry i bought it. pm me for pics if you like.

No more than running one of those fancy tensioner you guys run that out more tension on the belt. Just another means for the same result.

you have a point. i do have a roush... happily because i know a smaller violin needs tighter strings. my reason for my setup. if i was busting belts and idler pulley bearings often id do a change up. juan's boost gauge looks so cool. but what would it do when i hit 12.2 on my way home?

my advice to anyone new here is all info in this thread is great. but every application varies some. if you fell in this rabbit hole you need to speriment a bit.

I actually predicted you would type that. The fact of heavily modifying a vehicle is that you’re going to have to replace certain parts more often than you would if you keep the vehicle stock. :)

x2 it actually is a good point Snow, but if you remove all the stuff you've done and do a 3.0 or 2.8 or whatever and use the roostfactor setup or the Billdacat setup on an otherwise all stock setup including the tensioner then you break the tensioner and potentially cut into the t stat, so technically speaking I guess you are just moving the stress to different points and leaving them up for vulnerability. I guess it just depends what you want to replace more often right?

Agreed, everyone runs different setups so there is no one size fits all for this stuff. Especially at this point in the game.

That is true as well, but then again you have all stock supercharged stuff breaking at random as well.

Now all OE... That's a different pickle all in itself.

I no I don’t have the load you guys have. But I’m running a 2.3 pulley. 69.5 belt. Stock tensioner... no belt slip. Just saying. I would get the Roush tensioner if it was slipping tho.

Mostly I joke around. In hindsight I wouldn’t do it again because of possible bearing issues. If my buddy’s bearings went I’d feel pretty bad. I’m basically his de facto mechanic now.

I can only dream mine would ever move that fast. Tends to flatten after 80 or so. but trucks not setup to go much faster than that.
