I had originally planned on putting the 2.825 SGPulley on, but decided to go with the QC 2.8 IRD has.

Are you guys saying the QC hub will do the same thing if I ever decide to remove it? :notsure:

Finances will probable delay this project again anyway.

Not entirely sure if this is an answer to your question.

I don't know about the urd pulley system but I have the pulley boys hub with a smooth flow pulley. I have a round steel plate with holes in it that smooth flow sells that bolts to the smooth flow/pulley boys hub if you ever need to pull the hub off.

The hub might need removal if the SC snout bearings are ever replaced but otherwise it just stays.

Mine came off in pieces when I did mine. Desperation started to sink in at the end. Wish I snapped a pic of it at the time.

To answer this question, this will not happen to the QC pulley hub. The hub itself has a much smaller surface area overall and there is a specific well built puller available for it from pulleyboys and I'd imagine Smoothflow has an option available for a puller as well for it. It's of very high quality and will get the thing pulled off much easier as I'm sure many of you noticed that the QC hub pressed on in there much easier than those other garbage aluminum pulleys ever dreamed of doing.

Yes and no, but thank you.

Honestly, I don’t see going smaller than a 2.8”, but didn’t want the super grip nightmare should I ever need to pull it off.

Having a 2.3-2.7 doesn’t really interest me, for the driving I do. My thought s may change, but at the young age of 56, I doubt it.

I had to easy bake my URD stealth pulley in a toaster oven then install it piping hot and quickly on the SC. For that reason alone I wouldn't do it again.

A torch would have ruined the finish but that's how it's really done in most real world situations.

I had to do it with the SC off the truck. Used an impact wrench on the puller and kept it from spinning with a breaker bar. Broke my first puller trying to do it in place. Glad I was wearing safety glasses when that f'er snapped.

That irregular noise and large puffs of white smoke, where early signs. Better it happened on the dyno than driving anywhere. Wow though!

Yeah, so after finally getting the stock TRD pulley off, I notice that bolt broke off in the snout. After a long nightmare weekend and read everyone else’s horror stories, I’m opting not to even try to get that URD SG pulley on. I’m just going to leave the engine as is and eat the cost of that pulley.

I was at that point of desperation today when you almost know you’re going to break something before finally getting the old bolt out but not before screwing up the thread inside of the snout. I’m over this one. However most of you will appreciate the sweet sight of victory found here

alright so tell me about these QC set ups that I can run a 2.8 on with a much easier press/pull set up. Link if you have it would be even better. I’m going to bounce back to page one now and see it it’s there. Maybe a photo of what it looks like on as well as a reference for me would be appreciated.

I not a fan of the jaw puller for removing press on SC pulleys. There are puller devices like below that are specific for removing SC pulleys and they remove without damage as long as you get the correct size.16C8E6F9-7039-4546-86B4-4D76FCF85D41.jpg

As for pressing SC pulleys or hubs on. Nothing does better than a hydraulic press ;)
