Im very prone to breaking bolts, thats why i ask for a torque value.

"Snug" is the torque value. It's a happy medium between too loose and breaking the bolt off. It takes time and practice to find this balance, but once achieved, it's a good skill to have. "Snug" for steel bolts into aluminum is different from a "snug" steel bolt into steel.

I see. You just have to learn to understand the type of material you are working on and their physical limitations while also understanding what those bolts are holding in or onto. Not all bolts need 5000 ft. lbs. Of torque. Lol.

I think I'm going to add this into page 1 because it's the best translation to what I've been trying to say for a long time to everyone asking here about torque specs.

Relying on torque specs can be a crutch and in doing so you can still break items.
Example: I torque spec'ed an oil pan once with inch lbs exactly to what was called for on the FSM and it actually ended up cracking the pan along the sealing lip anyways.

Needless to say after that I don't rely on that crap at all anymore unless we are talking internal engine items or wheels.

    Expert level: Expert only. :D

Or the infamous rear suspension torque specs calling for 37ft lb. common sense always trumps specs. For everything else there is TW.

So guys, I know I'm Canadian so this shouldn't be a big deal, but this has been a big week for me. I've been on the edge of my seat since early in the week, the predictions looked promising, but as you guys know these things sometimes change at the very last minute. So I was holding my breath but finally, today I was REWARDED!!!

IT SNOWED ITS ASS OFF TODAY!!!!

Torque spec also doesn't apply after numerous loosens and tightens. Numerous can mean several or hundreds depending on the material and application. The threads on your bolt and the threads in the material the bolt goes into weaken over time and use. After 14yrs of oil changes on my dirt bike, I would never torque that drain plug to the factory recommended spec. I'd strip it right out! Snug, and call it good.
