    A procharger is basically a turbocharger. Where as turbochargers show the majority of their power output in the higher RPM spectrum.

    What I'm saying is unless you are drag racing and/ or street racing, it's not worth the effort to make the switch.

    I mean if you want to spend the money to revert back and then add the procharger on. I think that's a lot of time and money spent trying to get boost in a different RPM section.

    You might as well go turbo if you want to go and do all that.

    It’s a no go for a few of us. Keeping it carb legal and all.

    I need to get my first smog check in the next month fun times. looking at least to get something to hide pulley boys unless I just get the local guy who may not care.

    I know they are strict in your state but will they know for sure that pulley isn’t stock?

    And what if your pulley was stamped "not stock" what would it matter? Why would pulley size matter for emissions at all?

    The carb OE sticker states the pulley size if you get a tech that is by the book so it does matter legally speaking. Mine says pulley boys in annoying big lettering so less “stock” looking.

    The pulley size matters because it regulates the amount of power and heat the blower generates under boost. All of the above factors change the way coolant temperature behaves which also will change the way the PCM regulates other emission control devices to compensate for those changes. The compensation for said changes can alter the tailpipe emissions and can put it out of its specified desired tolerance ranges while driving the vehicle. That is the rationale behind stating those specs on the executive order document. @TheFang

    As for you @nudavinci64 just get yourself a nice blank pulley from Smoothflow in the size you currently have or one size down depending what you want to do and paint it black then when it comes time to smog it will be very stealth. I'll tell you right now not a single tech cares or even knows that the pulleys are aftermarket or stock. Besides, even if they knew it wasn't stock they have no way of proving it's a pulley size under 3.0.

    Yeah, I figure the pulley is likely the least of their worries. Once they see the Carb Sticker they prob will be good enough.

    That would be it.

    It will have a more progressive power curve. Linear if you will, for HP. So less torque off of the line. Very smooth though.

    AIT's will be cooled and contained better, as you upgrade to more output from the charger. It is just more expandable than the TRD when it comes to making more power.

    If that is something that you want.

    Equally as good a system in its own right.

    As for the turbo, that is all about sizing. Not only of the turbo itself, but the turbine inlet size for each size of turbo. Way too a la carte which can be tailored from instant off the line torque to mid or high only.

    With the Procharger or turbo/s, the OEM pistons and rods become the weak points.

    As an example, the twin kit of OVTune's is making full boost around 1400-1600 RPM's. That would need clarification. Imagine that response on a larger 4 liter.

    When you push past 400 whp( somewhere around 420, depending on the tune.)the cylinder pressures and heat will cause ring ends to butt. Then bye bye ring lands.

    On a side note in a neg to the procharger is that the belt slip problem is much worse at certain pulley sizes compared to this style of supercharger. Its a lot of belt to control. Not trying to steer you away but make aware.

    I like to think water/meth injection is saving me from all things bad.

    If I have 444g/s MAF readings... that would mean I'm around that 420hp limit. I've been thinking of doing a compression test. Although I have this motto... "don't ask questions you don't want to know the answer to".
