TRD/ Magnuson 4.0 Supercharger Tips, Tricks, and Mods

Can anyone send me or tag me in posts with failed supercharger tensioners please?

casting aluminum has its limits. reason i sent one back and bought a roush.

 

Just sharing them with David from superchargers online. Not sure if anything will come of it but it sounded like he wasn't aware of the issue, so maybe we will have another option soon. Or he may just wanna see because I don't think it's normal for tensioners to be snapping the way these ones do

 

Possibly they also prob were not made for all the extra goodness we through at it

 

quite likely the tensioners performance needs were overlooked in design. any chain can have a weak link. maybe its this? with any mods and additional stress its possible.

Show us how they fit! I'm have the 4r ones and extending my coil pack wiring this week because I wasn't a fan of pulling the harness to get them to fit. More work then I needed to do but trying not to rush this.

 

Will those work? I saw the note that they won’t fit. Is it just the wiring connection?

 

I bought one and put it in recently. It was pretty spensive especially with the Canadian exchange rate, but man it was worth it. Also got the voltage booster he makes... voltage is 13.8 or 13.9V when it's warm. Great for e-fan speed, running all the accessories I have rigged up, and the lights never dim because of the subwoofer any more.

Definitely get on this if you're thinking about it. Well worth it, for sure.

 

The wiring harness length and shorten the shaft length. They all use a Denso 4 wire connector. They seem to fit so far. I think on the 3.5L taco, it mentions it doesn't fit but the 4r is the 4.0L and some minor differences like the shaft length and angle so it allowed others to get it to work.

 

Ok the 3.5 fits with shortened length but it was the tr4 that didn’t as it was a different setup

 

im eager to learn the best plug and play version of these. i could cowboy one but i have so little mod time. im interested for sure.

 

You should be fine after he fits his. Just the early orders, I followed suit after @12TRDTacoma and @Murphinator installed theirs. Wasn't aware there were differences and it does fit with finagling but I'm not a fan of tugging on the wire harness, plus heat cycling and whatever else could add to the fun.. Going to start extend the coil wires tomorrow so I can hurry up and get it running.
