    Does it look like it'd be possible to swap the boots off of the OEM coil packs onto the RIPP ones for a better seal at the top?

    I did try to lightly pull it off and its a built-in rather be able to swap so likely not. Where there is a will there is a way but they note that it is built-in and you wouldn't use the OEM version.

    Ok so my only problem with the 4runner ones is the stem I am gonna call them are too long. Also they are a bit narrow if you use the ruthenium spark plugs its a very snug fit. In terms of the extension harness, you don’t 100% need them. I took my charger off and all you need to do is snip a zip tie or two on the engine harness and move some wires around and they will reach fine.

    @Murphinator is right on. I referred to his installation pics originally. They will fit but I had half my engine apart already. What's another drop in the waterfall?

    I've also verified that the RIPP 1GRFE coil packs for the Tacoma could be a better design. The clearance from orange coil pack to the valve cover is non-existent. Agreed that this is a poor design, but I dont think it will cause the plastic coil pack cap to melt.

    How's the seal around the top of the valve cover?

    I took some comparison photos of the stock pack vs RIPP for visual height and size differences. Going to do a photo drop here.

    And also of the spark plugs inserted into each coil pack "stem". Comparing a stock Iridium NGK to a Ruthenium NGK. Ruthenium is definitely more snug due to the longer ceramic on the plug.

    Photo dump. Old plug is iridium. Newplug is ruthenium. RIPP pack is orange. Stock is dirty brown/black

    It seems like the biggest issue is that they did not locate the bolt hole correctly.

    @BassAckwards

    The dust cap/seal against the spark plug well certainly isnt optimal. It's a catch-22 here.

    The stock coil pack requires some pressure for the stem to stay snug on the end of the spark plug. The RIPP pack has the same requirement but requires more pressure to hold things snug. Because its only a single bolt that is securing everything down......the side with the mounting bolt is "tighter" than the opposite side....which causes the dust cap/seal to be slightly distorted which prevents it from sealing snug around the lip of the well.

    Damn, sounds like someone was smoking something whenever they redesigned these. Im definitely dissapointed in what i'm seeing so far on the fit and finish. Maybe it's a sign i shouldn't install these.. what else did they cut corners on that we cant see?

    I agree that if the bolt hole wasnt angled on the tab like that...... we wouldnt have an issue at all.

    As for fixing this ourselves.... no way. They have that industrial glue keeping the coil pack and rubber and plastic together. The risk involved to disassemble everything and hack it back together is too great for me on a brand new product that is still under warranty. I rather run these as is and risk melting them so i can blame RIPP and warranty them.

    I shot a crappy video to visually share with you guys the problem at hand. In the video, I'm putting pressure on the coil pack, and then lining up the mounting hole for the bolt. Then I'm trying to show the interference to the valve cover when everything is in position.

    If what you say is true.....i would be inclined to return them and wait for a possible redesign.

    Its one thing to produce an imperfect product. Its a whole 'nother thing to not support their imperfect product and wash their hands from it.

    20201201_174449.jpg Can you remove the bushing and drill a new bolt hole off to the side a smidge to clock the coil away from the valve cover? Not ideal for a new part but wouldn't be the first mod required on a new mod
