I got my fan this morning but haven't opened the box yet. UPS showed up surprisingly early to deliver it though and the box looks intact so it looks like everything should go okay.

Got my brake rotors that Amazon delivered. Not surprising they were coming out of the box.

Any of you guys ever try the EBC extra duty pads? My moms GX is due for some brakes and I thought I’d give those a shot along with some SS lines to try and get the pedal more responsive.

EBC makes EXCELLENT brake products. Their only caveat is that they don't last very long as far as brake pads go. I used their kevlar yellows on the Tacoma for a while and they only lasted about 20K so I switched to Akebono ceramic PRO-ACT pads. They've been on the truck for a very long time (at least 60K) and they just keep on going. They have tons of life left and they bite down really nice into the rotors when I need them.

Akebono for the win. Lots of people using them on the Lexus forum (not that they’re the most ingenious group — including myself).

Not sure if brought up already, but if you go RIPP coils then you should just take care of the PVC valve while you’re at it. It’s a tight fit, had to use a wrench. Easy while engine is off truck.

Depends on several factors as this applies to all good pad brands. Simplisticly the life will depend on weight and friction (tire) of the vehicle, driving style and use, and type of compound. Generally the more aggressive the pad the shorter the Life. A good balance of low noise, dust, initial bite and heat capacity are ceramics like oem or from brands like carbotech and brembo. However they are more costly but I would never cheap out on brakes and tires. Ss lines and new fluid will also help with the feel and consistency in stopping.

@nudavinci64 what was your truck weight again? Finally got mine on a scale and it’s lighter than I expected. 5760 with a full tank and no driver

Ha only if! 7k got it down to 6640 removing the rear tire and mount when I was making a change figured check and see the difference. Under $6k would be amazing. Rear is not doing me any favors but still another 1k lb difference. I k is you keep it fairly light. What armor/winch are you running?

It's the same deal on mine as well. The arms hit. 3D printed parts are easily moldable so if you apply some heat to them you could probably bend the arms out a little bit while you heat the mounting tangs.

There appear to be an excess of wires outputted from the premade harness. I would assume some of those are in place to rig in an always on fan switch. I don't think I'm ever going to use that function as I do not see the need for it so I may just end up picking out the wires and stowing them away instead of having an excess bunch of useless wiring hanging around.

I'll probably install the fan sometime this week or next week. We'll see how it goes.

How are you liking yours so far @Murphinator ? Any improvements overall? I really just got this so I can reclaim my otherwise nonfunctional AC in the summer because after multiple summers I am absolutely SICK of being barely cooled off in 90+ degree heat at idle.

I thought you were about 1k heavier than me with that shell, rack and extra overlandy gear.
I built my own armor; no winch, front is similar to the Pelfreybilt hybrid and rear is a high clearance with hitch, swing out and table. All either 3/16” or 1/4” steel as well as skids.

I’ll probably end up closer to 6k lbs in the end as I plan on redoing skids and trying to flat belly as much as possible under the truck.

I got mine all bent out now. I used a hairdryer and held the heat on the mounting tangs until it got uncomfortably hot while I applied pressure with my finger on the side that doesn't have a bolt on it and took my other hand to bend the rest of the mounts upward. No more rub.

Rather than modify the arms I think I am just going to make a custom shroud for it. I will say when you install it if you follow the directions on mounting it in the shroud the arm is going to make taking the upper sc tensioner bolt near impossible atleast from the top of the truck. You may be able to position it so that does not happen but I didn’t even think of it until I put it in the truck.

I like it so far. Granted it has been cold and rainy so I can’t really push it hard. I am in the same boat as you, I got it for summertime ac performance and at idle this fan will move a lot more air than the clutch fan ever could so I think that issue will be solved.

Whatever will make this heavy bitch stop better. The GX is completely stock and will stay that way. Both the GX460’s she’s owned had the worst brakes I’ve ever experienced. 80% of the pedal travel does nothing. In heavy traffic you have to sit on the pedal halfway down. As far as driving style goes - grandma style.

I thought you would also want that overrode always on button so you could use it as needed? Likely it will be on but one reason. Would be to flip on as needed.

Thinking using the shroud it came with. if a frame was made that entire shroud could bolt right in. Already has the shroud flap deals on it as well.

    mine arrived today as well.

Get some hawk pads and rotors, stoptech pads and rotors, or ebc pads and rotors, whatevers more budget friendly for you. Cant go wrong with any of them. Lines of your choice. My choice from track days with my 4runner before bbk was stoptech slotted rotors and carbotech pads. Had no issues going from 120+ to whatever corner speed i wanted for 25 min sessions with 4-5 heats.
