    Plastic has an inherent tendency to leak, mate that to sealing clamps that do the same and that's just a recipe for disaster, as many of us know first-hand.

    I know... I'm waiting for my MightyTacoman tank. I tried the temporary fix of cutting the hose in half and putting a coupler and the right size hose on the plastic reservoir. It took a few weeks, but leaked again.

    It's always fun to come out to the truck after it has been sitting for a few days (and randomly running the intercooler coolant pump) and seeing a puddle of fluid under the truck.

    Hey boys! I want to see your Lingenfelter VSFM fan controller dial settings! Since I am running a 160 thermostat I think my fan is set to come on at 140*. I personally think that's a little low.

    Post up a picture of your VSFM fan settings so I can see what you got and also post up what temperature thermostat you are running please. Thanks in advance!

    That's makes a lot of sense. I need to determine what will be a proper start up temp for my fan. I may be inclined just to set it to 160 and leave it at that then monitor temps and see if it goes higher than my target 168-172*. Ideally, I'd like to see it stay in the upper 160's range but 172 is fine as well.

    I would be leery of having the fans run below the thermostat temperature. That’s a temperature that the thermostat starts to open, and the engine is designed to run above that temperature. I think setting the fans to come on just above the thermostat opening point is a good, conservative start point. If you have a PWM controller, then you can determine if you need to be more or less aggressive from there. Ideally your fans should run minimally when you are at or around thermostat label temp.

    edit: wanted to add that when I had my fans set too aggressive, they always ran and my engine temp was actually reading higher Than I wanted. I think this was because the thermostat was seeing much cooler temps on the radiator side and wasn’t opening completely. You really want a stable temp where there is good delta across the radiator, but not too much.

    I'm running the 170 t stat right now, was planning to set it at that. After first start up by the time my coolant reaches 170f, my oil temp is still about 145ish. I try to stay out of boost until my Oil temp is over 150.

    That's why I was like, wait hang on. 140* is a little too aggressive for my 160* t stat.

    I'm wondering if I should just set it to 160, or bring it up 10* to 170* and leave it there.

    You may want to check the controller and reset it on the left side dials because it may be set too low. You'll see what I mean when you have it. Change your x10 starting speed dial to 7, it may be set to that already though when you get it.

    I am running the stock setup which I think is like 140/ 250? or something like that. 140 is fine so that way it will scale the fan speed smoother. I mean you could probably set it to 150 but for the most part the thermostat isn't even open so not a lot of flow to warm that sensor up until the truck is closer to 170 before the fan kicks on I wanna say.

    Well it’s good that they are erring on the side of caution. If it was the other way around I could see someone cooking their engine. I’d say 5 or 10 above thermostat temp is a good start then you have room to adjust up or down from there.

    Keep in mind the start temp is like 20 % fan speed, then max speed is 100%. It will scale in like increments of 10% I think to 100 depending on how much room you allow it. If you set it too high for the start temp you might have the fan not spinning fast enough. I plan on dialing it in more during summer, I want to make sure my ac performance is good on the hot days I don't mind if the fan is running a little faster than it needs in the winter.

    250’s a little high for my liking. I’d probably set my high to 220 so you hit 100 percent at 220 and above. Much better to prevent an overheating event before it gets there.

    idk if it's set that high, but I will say you don't want the fan to ever run at 100%. If you set the max at 220 then you are gonna be probably near 70-80% fan speed at normal temps which is just not needed. Don't over think this guys.
