Finally.....today

 

I got my shorties with new cats installed finally. I forgot to get pictures, my bad. Been driving only a couple of days. It is a little louder and sounds like you can hear the exhaust pluses more pronounced.

 

Which shorties do you have?

What do the arp bolts get torqued to for the URD headers??

 

The coveted driver side went in very easily in a matter of minutes. After undoing the steering shaft and loosening the starter but keeping the top bolt of it lightly threaded gave ample room for the header to slide right in

 

Tight. And retighten after a heat cycle. I didn't torque mine.

 

Tighten one till it strips, heli coil it, do 10% less on the rest. Seems reasonable no .

I didnt torque mine, just snugged them all down as getting at some of them with a torque wrench properly won't be easy

 

Damn I missed a step.

 

I like this strategy.

 

I prefer to strip two just so I have a good sample rate, then just leave them and pray. Not saying I did this (opps).

 

Fwiw, that was following the factory torque spec of 27 ft lb. Never again

 

If someone can just go ahead and strip all of them on their engine so the rest of us have a good sample size of what not to do. Rob- you would add that info to page 1 right?

 

I'll add this info to page 1 promptly.

Don't forget to adjust and torque sequence your piston return springs just inside the exhaust ports prior to installing your headers otherwise they may mis-time creating a nasty misfire during your exhaust stroke process while the engine is running.
