It was pretty obvious just make the hole that connects and moves it to the other side and bam problem solves. I hope its not too tall as for it to clear it would need to be 1/4-1/2" taller.

I have nearly 240k miles on my engine, is an SC not advisable?

Did you take good care of the engine? Do you plan to keep the truck?

It's in good shape, oil changed every time the light goes off and it had its 200k service. I have no idea how the internals of the engine are. What i don't understand is how to use the tuner, do i need to go to a dyno place? I assume i would buy the tuner version of the magnuson SC?

Yes, you would buy the tuner version. The other one has the Bully Dog tune which is not highly regarded.

You can have someone local flash your ECU, or you can mail it to @JustDSM and he will get you set up.

As for installing the supercharger itself, if you are not comfortable doing it, a decent shop should be able to read the ~25 page installation instructions and get it done in a day.

The only reason why you WOULD want it potentially is the carb certification for the maggie is tied to the full kit with bully dog tune. No tune no maggie sticker. You can likely get away with the TRD one but depends on the user if your in CA or a state that requires it for others considering it.

Get a static compression test. Then, get a cylinder leak test. Make sure the cylinders are within 20 psi variance of each other otherwise your engine fails. Make sure you are within 25-30% leakage maximum on your cylinder leakage test for each cylinder. If those tests pass, you are good to blow.

Pro tip: If you want to be excessive get a dynamic compression test. You want to see no more 5 psi variance between each cylinder. If you do. Fail.

If the shop you take it to has no idea what you are talking about on any of these three test events, walk, and go to another.

You can get a TRD one but if a rep wants to say its not a TRD SC could be an issue. Likely all they want but the updated Magnuson carb sticker is tied to the S/C and Tune itself. I have the Maggie one with the tune (just didn't use it) and it has my serial number on it. If you find a used or shit event new TRD one then you can get the TRD carb sticker that was universal. You could get the tuner kit and get that and if needed get the tune later on. I think you can do that if needed.

Say you got the charger and the sticker and the tune. Then changed the tune... emissions would never know you changed the tune. Just sayin

He has my ECU back in a couple days max it was quick. You can also go to the dealer after you setu it up or have them do it.

yah I do not have the tune its more about having the sticker and how picky they are. Mainly noting the Magnuson uses a different carb sticker than the TRD setup which is tied to the tune they sell. I never bothered even hooking itup but I got my sticker and smog done.

What part of California are you in? They should not have you pay extra for the sticker as far as I'm concerned but if they do it's just a couple bucks and they'll send you one via postal service. Since Magnuson is native to our state the sticker should arrive rather quickly.

If you don’t buy the kit with the BD you get no tuner. So basically the sticker costs like $500 I think is the discount for the “tuner” version of the kit (no bullydog included).

honestly if I were to do it over again I would put the trd sticker on and call it a day. It’s identical aside from the branding.

I'm in La Mesa, so you have to buy the regular kit to get the sticker? But don't use the tuner.

I would do this...which is what @Murphinator is also saying.
    1. Buy the maggy tuner kit with no BullyDog.
    2. Procure a TRD sticker with the CARB EO #
    3. Every 2 years, if a smog tech refuses to smog it, just go to a different smog shop.

the new maggie ones do have a serial number now. just FYI. but really comes down to whether they know what to look for. prob wouldn't know if you had the TRD one or not but as @12TRDTacoma noted you could just try different shops
