    Since you're building your own... how feasible is it to make two collector sections that you can swap out on dyno day to test out each type?

    I've run both systems..

    The Spec-U system lost quite a bit of low end torque compared to Roost's setup. Both lost low end torque on a N/A engine, however I think the frequency Roost's Y is tuned for is a better fit for a stock engine and it's RPM operating window. Now, folks with forged rods and pistons enter into a different arena where 6000+RPM operation is possible and desired from a power production standpoint, and the Spec-U system might favor operation in that range. I'm sure Roost or someone with the math to do the calc's could determine the tuned frequency of the Spec-U system and what RPM range that would favor.

    I think the low end lacking with the Spec-U is more a function of the length of the secondary's than the merge. However, I did have issues with the Spec-U merge. It resonated HORRIBLY at a very specific RPM/Load. I know he's since redesigned the Spec-U system as a result of the complaints he got from it.

    I like the layout of the older (what you pictured) Spec-U system, and I think it'll work well and be fairly easy to fabricate while working well for those turning 6K+. However if I was building a system, it would utilize a merge collector like Root's system.

    Make the 2.25 ends slip fit and the 3" a vband set up. Actually wouldn't be hard to accomplish.

    Do you mean this as in for your na motor you would do the 2.25" into 2.5" than cone to 3"
    Or do you mean that is what you would do for my built fi motor were it yours?

    In general. That design will have an advantage over a the straight merge in terms of exhaust gas velocity with it's venturi

    Just need to build my shackles this weekend and I can roll the tundra axle under and start fitting it in. I’m hoping I’m done next weekend but I’m sure there will be a few loose ends to figure out

    Either way, I am curious to see what comes of this. I am having a shop do some work on my setup here soon. They are big on track cars but not so much Tacomas. If I can give some pointers to the em that would be key. so far I have 2.25 > 3" merge but the roost effect of merge into 2.5 then to 3" curious to that setup (I am on a waitlist for JFR but this will do in the meantime). I likely was going to go with a similar design you noted on the Y. not expecting the same madness as the JFR on this setup. Any other tips I can relay to the shop?

    I'm moving onto the next step in my tuning setup process and figured it would be worth asking y'all:

    Do you have a spare HPTuners MPVI2 setup for sale? With or without credits. If I can save a few bucks here, that money goes towards other mods :)

    Or, do you have any functioning HPtuners coupon codes?

    The least expensive MPVI2 with 4-credits (shipped to me in Denver, CO) is from Over The Top Performance ($501.75).

    Edit: $489.95 from Hinson Motorsports. That's a $32 savings over direct from HP Tuners that will go towards an AFR gauge.

    no real discounts on HP tuners that I have seen. There was one shop with slightly lower credits but in general no big sales. I went that route ended up buy @DocME but was a new unit and was buying some other stuff off him.

    I'm far from an expert so I'm standing on the shoulders of giants here with any info I can provide. Only tip that isn't obvious would be to try and keep things equal length per side.
    2.25" pipe pre merge is preferred.
    3" post merge for fi systems.

    Looks like so much fun. The state just put the kibosh on the sand drags at our dunes until the park gets some kind of permit.....after 50+ years with no permit and very few safety incidents.

    Solo test and tune is authorized but no side by side testing

    It looks like SDPC has a package with an AEM X-gauge AFR Wideband for only an additional $100? It looks like buying just a bare X-Gauge is at least $130+ with no sensor.
