Yeah. The Tacoma version does not have any vents like the Fj version. Looks cool tho ;)

Did you ever install the AFE intake with it or did you keep the TRD setup?

I haven’t yet. AFE has made it difficult to get ahold of the correct tube I need. They won’t sell it separately. So, sadly, to answer your question, no. :(

The FJ CSF radiator in there is massive, heat shouldn't be a concern regardless if the hood is warm. If you want to vent the engine bay for better heat extraction, you should use rear facing hood louvers. You want the low pressure zone of air flowing over the louvers to extract air/heat from the higher pressure engine bay to maintain/improve proper airflow through the front end heat exchangers. Using a forward facing vent will force air into the engine bay at speed, which will disrupt the designed cooling airflow and reduce heat exchanger performance and reduce heat venting performance. Really shouldn't be an issue at speed as cooling issues typically happen at lower speeds, but rear facing vents are far superior in every way. If really concerned about heat, I think an electric fan is also worth consideration. Having the fan speed tied to engine RPM sucks. Climbing long steep grades in 4low at low speeds in desert heat just doesn't get the airflow needed to prevent noticeable climbs in coolant temp, because the fan just isn't turning fast enough. But even in those harsh desert hill climb conditions that FJ CSF radiator crushed the temps that the OEM unit would run, enough so that I was satisfied with the cooling performance. I'd pay more attention to swapping out the OEM trans cooler, as those temps climb much higher than the engine coolant in off road conditions.

Which tube do you need? the one that I sent was the Tacoma-specific one. Are you trying to get a different one?

2nd and 3rd that. the CSF does a damn good job at speed but lower speeds, sitting, crawling, hills is where I have had issues and high temps. I will be re-sealing my radiator, I have an e-Fan setup to install and plan to have a bigger trans cooler setup but have not decided which way to go. routed with the radiator or direct to trans. The Trans cooler will help big time. On a recent trip another guy with upgrade cooler was pulling 15-20 lower trans temps almost the entire trip compared to me.

I need the tube for the 10+ 4Runner. I’m running that MAF and throttle body.

In mid-so Cal trans temp warm up may not be as much of a concern, but I'd run it through the designed radiator passage. In extreme load scenarios the engine should be running much cooler than the trans, and will provide adding cooling benefit that you'd be leaving on the table otherwise. It will also provide faster warm up and more stable operating temps. I don't see any reason/benifit to bypass it.

As for the crawling, an e-fan is really the solution. You need airflow across the heat exchangers, and at slow speeds, with low RPM, that requires an e-fan. It is important to get a good contoured shroud to pull air efficiently across the entire heat exchanger surface. A good e-fan should draw serious current so an alternator upgrade may also be in order. The e-fan in my JT draws 850w, or ~71A, with the factory upgraded cooling package. But of course I have radiator and transmission cooler upgrades planned there as well.

totally I have the DEO e-fan already just need to install it. So far everyone @12TRDTacoma and @Murphinator in this group are fans and have noticed the difference. Just got back from Mexico and truck was hatting me while we were waiting to cross the border. It was fine driving but those standstill or heavy heat days were no good. Last summer on some savage hill climbs almost toasted the trans too so that's def happening.

Makes sense on the trans, I have seen both sides argued and running it inline with the current (replacing the existing trans cooler) is also less involved which for now is preferred.

To be clear, I was specifically referring to the transmission cooling lines in the engine coolant radiator. I'd replace the OEM transmission cooler with an aftermarket one entirely, unless also installing the transmission thermostat and wanting crazy cooling ability. You don't want to over cool something where it doesn't get up to designed operating temp.

yah I am with you. Just commenting since I have seen folks run it inline with the stock one which to me was another point of failure and wasn't a big fan of daisy-chaining more coolers than I need and possibly over cooling as you noted.

Is there some kind of rubber boot or gasket to seal the connection from the hood to the airbox when closed?
