    I re-welded mine, due to that exact thought. The HF welds had a lot of porosity.

    Besides welds it's also our surgical equipment. Sometimes after sterilization, depending on what level and how many times it has been cycled, I'll see some pits in the metal and request new ones. Don't get me started on stretchers or hospital beds....

    A question for those running the Gen 2 TRD intake (other opinions accepted as well :p):

    have you removed the secondary air filter?

    do the AFE filter boxes have a secondary air filter? I have never examined one, but I bet they do not.

    if you get an AFE for a later 2nd gen it comes with a relocation bracket for it. If you are in a state where it does not matter you can always remove it but need to block off a few things I use HP tuner to adjust.

    I used a bracket from holley to relocate mine to the front for the TRD intake. You need to also extend the harness

    @Scott B. is talking about the carbon filter in the lid. I have not removed mine. If you look close you can see there is a fair amount of space around it and loose fitting. I thought about it, but i was going to lightly drill out the plastic welds and then get some black screws to put it back in if need be.

    I left mine in. @12TRDTacoma never bothered to install it and plugged it up. Honestly its not needed but its there so I left it. I have not see anything bad about not having it. I think its needed for CARB reasons.

    I believe you are talking about the air pump - found on 2012 - 2015 trucks.

    I am going to move mine forward, with the bracket from Holley/Flowmaster.

    I have considered deleting it, but the delete kit is $400 - not sure it is worth it. The pump doesn't harm anything, and may actually do some good. Being in Georgia, I think I can get away with removing it.

    That is what I was wondering.

    The TRD intake appears to have much less restriction than the factory one, even if I leave it in, I should see an improvement.

    If the other aftermarket intakes don't use a secondary filter, and have received CARB approval, that may point to the needlessness of the filter. I did say may...
