Hey all! Very long time no talk. We've been rather busy behind the scenes but didn't want to leave everyone in the dark too long.

We decided to forego the retrofit spacer/boot setup for 4.0. Basically it came down to do it right or don't do it at all so we made to call to completely redesign the 4.0 coil from step 1. For anyone with a 4cyl Tacoma our gen1 4.0 coils happen to fit the 2TR-FE application perfect. Those will be for sale shortly.

4.0 gen2 coils are expected to be available later this year, likely toward mid-fall. We are sending the CAD files off to manufacturing this week and getting the molds/production going. We apologize for the delay but we wanted to make sure we did right but each and every one of you who either purchased or plan to purchase this product.

In the meantime we've released two products for the 2nd gen Tacoma which I think a lot of you will find good use for.

The first being our catch can. Boy do these 4.0's run dirty... Like seriously really filthy dirty. One month on our test vehicle the catch can was full. We can't believe just how much oil is always being recirculated to only gunk up the intake manifold and valves. Plus that oil makes its way into the combustion chamber and does all sorts of bad there. We also have a 3rd gen Tacoma catch can available.

Second we developed a larger trans cooler which also converts the factory trans cooler into a power steering cooler. The trans cooler is rated for a GVW of 18,000 pounds. So while you're towing on the highway or crawling through a trail it's doing work. Now we also were able to keep the OEM transmission cooler in place and retrofit it to work as a power steering cooler. Very helpful to those of you driving through trails constantly turning back and forth with big tires and zero cooling available to the fluid. This will also fit 3rd gen with trimming or removal of the passenger side radiator air guide.

What is the mJ output of your coils compared to stock? Stock denso should be around 34. Just curious if y'all have done that testing.

For the larger trans cooler would you be interested in a version that fits the S/C trucks? I had reached out and based on how this one mounts the additional heat exchanger we have for the S/C the kit will not work. We def are fans of running cooler here with all the extra heat were generating. I did see it coming so was excited as that has been big problem on my end.

Who can chat or walk me through some tests. I want to measure airflow or get some performance metrics swapping a few things in and out. For the Dorkel crew, I am doing some tests around a few pre-cleaners to see which one makes the S/C 4.0 happier. Using 3 different ones one for a larger volume engine, the standard from one brand than another pre-cleaner, regular snorkel head, and no snorkel.

I plan to do a Blackstone lab test on Oil before and after, MAF Airflow in g/sec, along with a Dyno tune which I have been wanting to get done. I was holding out for some other work but figure it's good to get the baseline and run a few tests now.

    Any suggestions to add?

Sounds like you got the basis fairly covered there amigo. I'll be curious to see how the Dyno tune compares to the street tune.

I believe he swapped back to the stock exhaust for less decibels..

It's on my truck now. I find it very quiet in most situations, on par with the TRD catback. The blower is way louder when driving with spirit.

I'm happy with the performance, and something quiet was important to me. Probably leaving some benefits on the table running stock headers.

Had to get the URD y-pipe gaskets to get a good seal, and took some juggling to get all the v-bands perfectly but I think it was worth it. MPGs have been slightly higher since the install too.

My question is in regards to orientation. I have it racked up but want to confirm before final welding. Any pics? What end do you have as in input and exit?

nice, I have been on the list for a JFR setup for a while and debated on this a tad too long. Glad to hear it's working well. What did you use for the o2 sims?

It's hanging from the stock muffler hangers, 3" in 3" out dumping behind the axle. I will try to snag you a pic this afternoon. It's a tight fit. Low end in front.

    Running the stock O2 sensors.

I have the keg sitting in the garage waiting on the JFR-Y. I see the dilemma with the orientation. It could go either way. lol

That is all I needed. Thank you very much. I did same orientation but stock has high end as input and wasn’t even sure it mattered. I have a JFR Y pipe with a resonator and one cat, 3” input with currently nothing on the output. I have to squeeze it over to keep room for a traction bar between the keg and the driveshaft. It does sound nice and I just have it chicken wired in. I dig it.

I wasn’t really sure if it mattered. I am clocking the JFR resonator but will snap some pics soon. Same as @smelly621 3” in and eventually 3” output over the axle.

nice no codes going off? I guess it may not matter for now.

Either way good to hear. I may go with another Y pipe setup in the meantime but looking forward to the JFY. I am still far away from having one in my hands but at least in on the committed group.

Also for all these exhaust setups lets get some photos over on our boosted exhaust thread. I am still trying to see what I want to do. Chatted with a guy that is going to set it up but likely will need some direction to optimize the boosted output. Only annoying part is I have gone down there and he did not have parts or a place to store the truck (had a bunch of old cars at the time and a track car) so I did not leave it or have my shorty's yet.

O2 sensors are upstream of the secondary cats even on the stock y-pipe. Loginfailed was cool enough to make this setup with aftermarket secondary cats but the O2 sensors don't care one way or another.
