Me too. Cuz if it is, I’m done with the truck. Not putting a third engine in it.

I’m going to look at a used supercharger tomorrow, it says it was just rebuilt earlier this year, but he is also the second owner so I have no idea how many miles are on it. What should I look for in terms of any problems it may have?

He is selling it because he bought for a 4runner he no longer has.

Oh that one? I’d still assume no rebuild and factor that into the cost since he isn’t confident and doesn’t have proof.

At least it will say TRD, right?

The most important part is making sure all the parts are there. So many little pieces, you can spend a small fortune trying to chase down pulleys, nuts, bolts, hoses etc. Many times people buy a used blower then turn right around and sell it because it’s too expensive to get all the parts that are missing.

    Good luck!

I’m betting I got a broken rod. Clutch and bell housing area look good from inspection hole. Pulled oil filter and it’s not shimmering like the last time I spun a bearing but has some shimmer. Oil is only 500 miles on it if that

Anyone want to buy a truck with a blown engine. Has a supercharger. :(

Rotate it to see if it's in a bind and/or pull plugs with a borescope and see if one is slower to come down from tdc than the rest. You drained the pan yet?

Nope. I got a vid. Need to see how to upload it to here. Plan on dropping the oil pan tomorrow or next week since I’m on leave.

Don't bother with doing that. Just drain the oil into a clear mason jar and hold a light to it. If you see the oil has shavings in it or metallic flake you're motor is pretty done.

You know that could be the t-chain tensioner failing, or a component within the t chain assembly. Hmm...

Yep. Take a sample, and report back. I'm curious as to what you find.

at first, i thought maybe the oil pump. but ive got full oil pressure when cranked now. the last time i spun a bearing it wouldnt even get over 20 psi unless i reved the piss out of it. this time it seems to be fine. and at first i though it was coming from the transmission, now it seems louder on pass side? i dunno. if its the engine, im selling this shit. wish i had an auto cuz i would put a 2uz in and be happy.
