    Man that sucks.

I vote for a low mileage complete engine. Flea bay or other wise. That’s what I did. I got a nice 60k take out that’s still working well for me.

i did that last time. I got an engine out of an 08 with roughly 32k miles when i had 49k miles on the clock. got the full engine, wiring harness, ecu, drive shaft, auto trans with tcase and drive shafts for 2250 shipped. sold my old block and trans/tcase for 500 each

God that breaks my heart. I looked at it and initially thought it was a roller bearing as well. Connecting rod related. It makes sense it was the retainer from the cam gear tensioner because without it or if it's loosening the chain or similar will start to rattle a little bit since it's not as tight as it should be.

I thought you were going to be done after this no? Or did you have a change of heart and want to keep the truck after all?

i dont know. im going to fix it. and if i do that and decide the sell, i should still get a decent price out of it. if i dont sell, well i got a truck that runs again. im torn because this was the first truck i ever bought myself. i have had it since 2006 with 0 miles on it. im just tired of fixing it. i have a lexus gx that i can wheel if i wanted to. just needs lockers. and possible a better rear end. i had plans to do some axle swaps on the truck but who knows.

I totally understand where you are coming from. This was the first vehicle I ever bought brand brand new and I would feel the same way you do. I have sort of reached a point where I just want it to run and am tired of fixing little stupid things on it just because they are ever so slightly worn.

Either way, even if you wind up selling it you would get a hell of a good amount back from it because of the market for these trucks right now. That is one advantage you have going for you. If you hang onto it, well you know the deal. Happy truck, happy guy in the end. They are worth the trouble undoubtedly, but they can be work sometimes. Especially when other matters are pressing in life.

if i had an auto trans, id probably do a 2uz swap but with the 6spd, makes it a little more tricky with ecu. id sacrifice the HP for a smooth as hell engine with all the torque down low. its one reason i love drivin the GX

Ive had many vehicles, all of them I still miss. Its a lot less attachment than a pet/family pet.
But everytime I start them for a drive, I strive to enjoy each and every moment driving them.

Vehicles for me are less of an attachment now and rather a tool. This truck has been with me through some stuff, yeah, but if it came to a point where it was no longer viable for me I would sell, that being said because I use it for towing and general all around transportation and it has great power to boot it still has great purpose for me now.

UZ isn’t very mod friendly. But the market has picked up a lot in the last couple years.

I may be moving to a more relaxed state in the next year or so. Was thinking if I do I get a project car like a 70’s Celica and throw in my 3uz, after it gets some forged internals, then TT it with a stand alone.

Hard to understand the guy but the build is cool. Didn’t know the stock intake manifold flowed that well.

Damn these EL headers matched up to a EL Ypipe really do RESONATE! Wonder if exhaust wrap would tame that down?

Probably not, but a resonator sounds like it would help wonders if it's as bad as it sounds.

I developed that problem. I described it as straight up embarrassing to even drive. Someone chimed in and said if your catless, 1 to 2 resonators is the key. I ended up doing 2 vibrant resonators right after the y-pipe and before the muffler. Ended up working nicely.
