Doubt I'll ever go back to catless. Just too loud even with 1 vibrant ultra quiet resonator, and the 2 resonators in the dt mid pipes. With the 2 cats and the vibrant resonator, it's just as quiet and sounds better than stock headers/mids with trd cat back.

Plus starting the truck in the garage was just plain nauseous. Left it smelling like fumes as well as a nice brown spot on my fender by the exhaust tip

Just a custom made Ypipe. It’s no JFR or APR by any means but at least it’s stainless for the most part.

The strange part is this Ypipe and LTs plus a couple mufflers sounded great through all RPMs. But changing to EL headers everything sounds great again from idle all the way up except around 3k-4K RPMs. This little window resonates!

At least the power is up all the way through the RPMs again. Anyone having 4 cats let alone just 2 really kills high end power for our blower setups

That extra length probably moves all the sound wave frequencies further down the pipeline causing undesirable vibes up to your windows.

@wrmathis what's the oil pickup/strainer look like from below? I'm curious if you actually picked up any metal. Maybe roll the crankshaft around a couple times and inspect the chain before giving up hope.. I've seen some metal chain guides come loose and grinding on the way down and they were able to salvage the engine. Not sure it's worth your time but you would have to remove the front timing cover. Hope you find some good news.

it looked like it had some stuck in the pickup. there was so much flakes that were big that even if everything was good, dont think i would trust it in the long run.

Bummer! At least you can recoup for a few bucks as a rebuild. Sounds like timing is off and knocking. Probably due to the wrecked oil pressure with all the metal. Sorry to hear this. Too bad you're not local. Would totally be down to help/learn how to swap a 1grfe as I've killed my back tearing down to the short block in the engine bay.

yeah pulling it aint hard. im gonna take my time tho. since its probably going to be just me doing it for the most part. im going to pull the transmisison and crawl box/tcase tomorrow and clean it up. only reason im removing it is so that people dont think its abandoned on the side of the road. my garage isnt large enough to fit thet truck and the drive way is sloped so its parked out on the road. the house im renting has an HOA so im trying to do this stealth as possible.

Ok guys, I've been away from this forum for awhile and it's time to go back to working on my truck and get my projects finished.

My next step in parts is spark plugs, so which ones do I need (w/o diving through 1910 pages...):

    NGK 2309 LFR7AIX

    or

    LFER7BHX/ 95125

or have we moved on to dilithium crystal based plugs? :notsure:

Cam gears and 2.8" pulley are still standing by and I intend on doing this all at once, to include a S/C service.

I failed to get this done last year, but between a major home repair and my wife becoming critically ill for several months, the truck got put on hold.

    TIA
