TRD/ Magnuson 4.0 Supercharger Tips, Tricks, and Mods

Its pretty easy to do and effective. Just remember to mark which sensor goes to which plug, they are all individually calibrated and if you swap lefts and rights for example, they will throw codes. I pinched mine in a vise while I made brackets to hold them, you have to put a little more force into them then you think. Also, for my 2007, I was able to turn the seat belt chime off by "programming" the vehicle kinda like resetting the oil change light, but it involves plugging the seat belt in that you want to deactivate the chime on.

 

What would you recommend to seal the top side of the intercooler to the sc lid? mine was sadly unbolted from the top when I bought it. I got a new orange foam seal from URD, but wondering what to use to seal the top. +100 of you know the length/pitch of the bolt that holds the intercooler to the lid between the coolant barbs, I have a small handful of bolts that I've no idea where they might go... nothing was screwed into the lid when I got it.

how did you test it was pressed enough? I thought I had them but still not “ON”

 

Gave up on bending and bending. Firewall to front core support is all soft lines now. Woot!

Should have seen the PreRunner brake lines. Spaghetti.....

 

i forgot about that. but with the cracks on the frame im sure that'll stop the truck faster.

 

There is typically a small precut outlined gasket goes into the lid itself if I remember correctly.

Actually something like that may not look too bad behind the scoop itself now that you mention it. Someone who is good with Photoshop could have a field day with mocking up that style on a sport hood.

 

That's how I tested. Put it in once, they didn't show occupancy, cranked on them again and reset the brackets, then whoa-la it worked.

 

It's in Mexico now. What happens next, nobody knows.

 

this engine seems pretty damn clean. the connectors, injectors, coil packs, fuel rail, and anything else i can see from the top is clean as fuck. will pull the rest of the wrapping off tomorrow. need to make sure the oil pans are sealed up and are the correct ones and not the xrunner ones. wont be able to get it installed till the weekend of the 9th. going to yakima for training this friday

Any reason not to get the magnuson? Need to be able to pass SMOG, which I believe rules out the procharger.

This has been in my cart for a couple days but I think it's time to make the purchase.

Parking one next to the Tacoma will give the taco a hp/tq bump? I can't think of any other reason I'd want one. The Tacoma is already a tight squeeze on a lot of my favorite trails.
