Hey man I bought the x series gauges with the flex pod. How did you tie the gauges down into the pod?

I have an x series in the flexpod and it was some amount of work finding a way to keep them in. I ended up buying threaded rod that fit the back of the gauge and cut it long enough to extend out the back of the pod mount. Then it was just finding a cross member to give the nuts something to hold against. I'll try and snap pictures of my setup tomorrow, as well as the P/N for the threaded rod. If you lived closer I'd just give you the rod. I have several feet left over.

It is against my nature to allow this. Lol Over engineered is properly engineered.

iirc i just dug through my misc bolt supply until i found longer bolts. its easier than you think. just DONT over tighten the screws at the column.

Trust that I want to take care of it the right way, but it's just too much of a PITA because the backing material is all screwy as well and it just seems like more trouble than it's worth to me.

So I can figure out how to get the gauges on the pods but the gauge hits the bracket that ties to the column. Did you have to do anything fancy there?

    I appreciate the help guys!

you might be able to use some
Electrical tape and use that to friction fit. Adjust wraps as needed. I had to do similar on another gauge setup.

Try a longer bolt and washers in between pod and bracket to move the pods forward, maybe?

Man the gauge surround hits the actual bracket. I'd have to move the whole pod out a half inch to fit the gauge. That or grind the flex pod down but I don't really want to do that. I'm gonna try spacers but I'm afraid it'll look like crap lol

Yup. I added a couple washers to push the pod back. I also took the entire gauge apart, and sanded down the two buttons. They would lightly contact the steering wheel when I turned it and change settings.

Did you have to grind down the bracket? I can't get this bolt on to bolt the pod to the bracket. It's about 1/16 off

@happyabortion just took it apart and here's what I got:
First I had to grind down the bracket in order for the gauge face to fit. You can see it under the gauge, the silver bit.
    20211029_112830.jpg
Then I had to extend the threaded rods to reach behind the pod
    20211029_112811.jpg
Then I added a washer to push the pod farther away from the steering wheel, as well as sand down the buttons. 20211029_112629.jpg 20211029_112711.jpg
This is the bracket and nuts I used on the back side

The threaded rod I sourced from a place called McMaster-Carr. They have literally everything with threads you could imagine and if you call or email they are super helpful. PN: 98861A050 threaded rod M4 x 0.7mm

MMC is best way but shipping on small stuff is probably more than it costs if you don't have other stuff to get. Could also probably buy a long bolt from h/w store and cut it off with dremel and run a die over it to check threads.

Man I really appreciate the help that definitely makes sense to me.

Man I feel terrible grinding on a overpriced new bracket but I suppose it has to be done. Thanks alot!

Pretty sure shipping was like $5 or something minimal. On top of the $0.50 I spend on the bolt, the convenience is worth it.

I felt the same way. But then as soon as the sparks start flying, innovation takes over.

Grinded that bracket and I also had the buttons rubbing the wheel. I got a couple of washers and had to grind one side flat to get it to fit with the gauge to push the pod back and it was enough to clear the buttons.

Thanks again for all the help man I appreciate it!
