I considered the expo long-range tank. At least in CA the JD Fab one won't fly for nondedicated offroad trucks.

They do have some tread depth too.. 21/32's.

ahh ok. I could definitely get away with the JD one here. its on the list of wants.. who knows when that will happen tho. Jerry cans are cheaper. lol

nice! yah it does take a up a lot of space. If your looking to do it with you current setup. I may look at the long-range tanks that replace and are more in the stock location. No bed cutting etc. I believe that gets you up to 30 gallons or so.

ill have to look at the M/T's. My KM3's have some meaty tread depth too but seem to measure a hair over 33.6 or so. on paper, they are 34.4 where the M/T is 34.8

Anyone order a magnuson recently? How long of a lead time did you have?

I ordered 9/30 with a 4-8 week lead and no tracking info yet...waiting on an update from the vendor just figured I'd check here and see if anyone had some insight.

That's the tank I'm talking about. It's from Overseas. That's the one I've wanted front there beginning.

I researched tires, 35s, to death when I made this change up. The Mickey's are the only one that checks all the boxes.

    ah gotcha! good call.

Nice I was looking around recently trying to find info on 35's true height, etc. but cant seem to find much. (also didn't look too hard) not in a rush but these M/Ts def have my interest. They are pricey though.

they are. if I didnt score the local deal I did, I might not have tried them. I scored 5 brand new ones for $1k. BUT.. after running them.. I would be fine paying retail.

    Nice Find!

I recently saw Tacomabeast/Mateo video about his install. His poor 6700 Taco with oversized tires got a small boost! lol

I enjoy watching other people do some crazy add-ons. (to a certain extent)

If may have actually got quite a boost considering the truck stuck was likely a dog. Half of us here including myself are in similar scenarios. Not winning any races but the mods def make the truck driveable again.

As long as I'm faster than all the Honda f***boys with ricer mods and a lower VTEC trigger, I'm happy.

Haha indeed. As long as I can heat stock trucks as heavy as I am it’s a win for me.

if that tank fits in the spare tire bay id like one.
remove the stocker, improve weight balance,
and open up options for exhaust.

The JD fab idea goes behind the axle. Think the original plan was to make a drop in cradle (with cutting the oem crossmembers) for either a 32 gal jeep speed cell or like an Oem full-size tank from a Chevy or bronco.
I’ve yet to see one built, only cad plans. Sounds rad though.

The Australian over-seas one from Long Range is like 32 gallons, but in Oem location, better or worse. Easy for CA smog, but HEAVY weight on one side where it doesn’t need it. Also pretty expensive, I’d rather carry two 5gal cans.

This. The price of that one is the biggest thing. I'm with you.. I'll just carry a couple 5g cans for now.

I can't leave anything well enough alone
Having done the two 5 gallon can thing for years, and now owning a LRA tank, I can say there is no comparison. It is spendy, I'll give you that, and I got around that with a second hand purchase. But so much better having the weight down low, using space for water cans instead of fuel, and peace of mind is just better with the tank. I didn't have a measurable change in the stance of the truck after install. The weight of the tank is close enough to center and down so low that I can't even tell a difference. The trucks that are loaded down with all the gear and 35s and such weigh so much that the tank is noise. If you have the opportunity to make that upgrade, you will enjoy it I promise.

JD fab is nice no doubt. But weight behind the axle is a whole different kind of penalty with how the truck behaves and bucks and flexes and performs offroad. I'd say that a smaller Aux tank back there would be better than a huge main replacement back there. But getting everything to play nice with no CELs when using an aux tank is no simple task.

I assume the fuel gauge remains somewhat accurate after the tank swap. Is that true?

It should. The fuel pump housing has a float connected to an electrical meter that reads the level and sends the signal to the gauge. Assuming the new tank isn't any deeper than OEM, where the float is located.
