When you first flash the ECU to the TRD tune it changes the ECU (no going back to stock form) So it gets converted to the updated ECU config. Then you can run HP tunes on top of it if you wish but based stock is no longer an option.

Robert has it. Basically the TRD S/C tune converts/changes the Calibration ID number (essentially changing the operating system of the ECU).

    Sorry, missed this question.

I think the minimum payments are like $175 a month, but I would recommend paying it all down in less than the interest free period (18 mo)...so it would be ~$6j / 18 = $333.

I think you could also split the payment method and do some cash and some card via a phone order, if you don't want to charge it all.

I also have a pro account, which provides good discounts which are often better than Black Friday discounts. I can't remember how I got it specifically, as it was when I was building my drag car about ten years ago. I think I may have provided them a "company name" as I started an LLC for drag racing (tax bennefits), but it wasn't hard to get and I am not a storefront business owner.

Justin helped me out with flashing a spare ECM with base TRD SC tune and it worked like a charm....

Well actually I installed my spare ECM with TRD SC tune, a new SC, and a dozen other upgrades at the same time and the truck wouldn't start, even after several tries....my heart sank as I envisioned possibly having to drop the tank [ I knew I made the rookie mistake of not testing fuel pump before reinstalling tank] or do something ecm related). Then I tried to start it with the gas pedal floored and it fired right up...ran like a champ with zero codes....keep that in mind, that you may have to do this to start it the first time. It surprised me a bit, as the closed loop fuel system should have self purged the rail.

Side note: I since have a P144C code, but pretty sure I have a leaky evap line where I fought a plastic QD for 10 minutes.... Completely unrelated to new ECM.

Nice When I chatted with them last time 10-15% off was the dealer price and you had to buy 2-3 for the initial order to start. Never thought of pro. I should get my brother on it.

I just looked at Summitt...inflation is a son of a b#$ch. I paid $4,626 (before tax) in July [edit] 2021and its now $5,288 with Pro Shop account...

It looks like current list is $5,595 and the Pro customer discount brings it down to $5,288....not great, but it was the best deal going when i looked especially when combined with 18 months interest free with the Summitt card.

Also, as others have mentioned: you MAY be able to save on taxes depending what state you shop to and if you can shop to family or friend in low/no tax state....but it depends on internet vendor if they assign state specific tax or flat internet tax like Amazon.

Things certainly have changed since the 2016 Group Buy, when they were under $4100 delivered. :crapstorm:

The prices for the blower have always varied wildly. Anywhere between $4400-$5500. Honestly I'm not too surprised with the prices at all.

I remember seeing the TRDs for just over $3K not including the fit kit before they were taken off the market. Maybe even for a little after because there were no more fit kits available. Missed some really good opportunities.

The variation is interesting...maybe it will go down at some point, but I doubt it with the state of raw materials and labor.

I actually misspoke and I said I bought it in August of 2020...I meant 2021. So the pricing changes I referenced were in four months.

Wow...that's a great price!!. I guess lessons learned, not only did I miss that price but I drove my truck with stock power for an extra 5 years.

It's like an entirely new truck now and Toyota should have never stopped having a factory SC option. The trucks are awesome, but are undisputedly underpowered.

I think Toyota they are really going to have to step up their Taco HP/TQ game to hang with some of the competition in coming years. They are still wildly popular, but not everyone wants to go aftermarket to tow a trailer up a mountain without significant downshifting :/....they should at least offer a V8 N/A option if not SC.

Like you, I regret missing out when they were closer to $3K. I resisted buying when prices climbed well-over $4K, and remained hesitant even at the five-year-old GB price which, now, looks pretty good. I suppose it's a matter of perspective...

Yup, never could have imagined the same ol supercharger could climb over 6 Gs. I feel like they could improve a few things you fine folks have pointed out after all these years for that price. Maybe a billet pulley, an upgraded tensioner, a complimentary T shirt, etc.
