Agreed, looks like it stops at first notch and second is for the plastic clip for safety. i will find a pic.

Thanks @rheath08. Trying not to spend too much time at my apt complex swapping stuff before people start complaining lol.

So replaced the FPR. I would mention it did seem to start easier and idle smoother. Not sure if everyone is up to maintenance but the FPR seemed to help. Stalled out again after 45 seconds. Same hard start issues. I figured I'll give a coil swap a go.

Passenger side Denso coils in. Fires up right away. No codes and idled until warm. I didn't get to the drivers side because of all the mounts to remove on that side but will consider replacing after a test drive and it's not an anomaly. Crossing my fingers for no more stalling. My assumption is some single issue (one coil pack but which one?) is causing generic events where in this case showed issue for all 6 coils instead of just 1.

How hard was it to swap the middle and rear drivers side coils? I have mine. Still on the fence if I’m gonna return them or not. On that note, who else has bought these since the rerelease a couple weeks ago??

I haven't completed the driverside yet. Just confirmed after test driving. No codes and no stalling.. not sure what's up with mine. They were running fine and others on here have had better luck on their set up. I think maybe mine is a bum set. I'm the only one on URD UCON still. I'm going to see if Ripp will help take a look at them because that's about 14 months ( actual drive time) and 10k miles. They offer a one year warranty.

So do,you, think it’s the UConn or the ripp coils causing your issue?

Still got the UCON here as well. No Aftermarket coils for me. The Denso’s seem to be a reliable part and I haven’t seen any definitive information that has compelled me to change.

I got them. Uninstalled as of now and considering returning or selling them. I thought everyone would have jumped on these

I see that one new Denso coil costs about $50 may even be able to get off brand ones cheaper and swap in a single brand new one one at a time and see if I could eliminate the error

There are lots of YT videos on testing coil packs with multi meter. Wiggle the wires while you check in case you have a bad wire in harness or connector.

If you get really stuck you might be able to buy some coil pack connectors and make a piggy back harness so you can check voltage while truck is running and look for anomalies. Not sure if any of the software like HPT can see the voltage to individual coils but I suspect not based on difficulties troubleshooting other codes for FI.

I would be more interested if they weren't orange. Here in Commie-fornia those will set off warning signs in testing I'm already hoping they miss other things.

I have been running the rip coils since the first set they released, I think they are for the 3rd gen taco? So they needed to have the boot trimmed and the plug was at a different angle. I haven't had any problems with them in the many months I have been running mine.

Ripp. Most of my install was solid (up to my standard). I didn't cut any corners. At the time, we were using the 4runner clocked ones. Harness was extended properly to match coils. I tediously did the wiring. Individually shrink wrapped everything. Also the engine is on dirt design mounts. They don't really budge. On Friday, I removed the UCON from the OEM ECU and tried to get it to idle but the same symptoms and DTC. As soon as I changed the coils and the only side I changed were the passenger so any coil could be the culprit. Not sure I'm going to spend the time to take each one and see which sets off a code but I didn't budge the harness changing out the coils so tells me the Ripp was suspect.

They don't care. At least mine passed last year.. They just checked for the supercharger EO# and kinda eyeballed the coil packs for awhile and moved it along.

And I think I just had bad luck. All of our modified set ups are not the same so I can't expect the same results. But touting they're better than stock. I'm not sure I'm a believer. Well I'm gonna see if they're going to reply about having them looked at. If anyone that does have them already, they're worth giving a try. They did their job for the last 14 months.

Thanks Jesse! I still have my stock ones and going to finish dropping them in tomorrow. Maybe in the future I can revisit performance coils but I need it to be running tops.

I guess my reasoning was new would be better while I'm in there. And maybe a performance bonus. My Dyno sheets weren't that ground breaking with all the mods but maybe next time I'll go with Denso coils and see if I get around the same.

If it ain't broke, does it need fixing? If you have them, I would give them a shot. If you want to do us a solid, do the install on the Dyno lol . My old Denso coils have 180k so I'll probably have to buy new coil packs a second time.

@jamesepoop did you confirm you have battery voltage to the coils when your ignition is on? Abad coil will only set a misfire fault. The codes are for cyl 1-6, right? Or is it one code stating all six? the odds of all six bad at the same time are slim at best, if so you need to buy us all lotto tickets.:D
