How would one go about this? Can it be done with the pulleys still on the block, or do they need to be taken off, taking apart and repacked?

I checked that one out but went with the LFP. The DMS looks like it might align differently on the tensioner with that inner seat but maybe eliminate the need for shaving the tensioner

I really need to get a thread identifier kit it would be pretty easy to pull off the nut and test it.

This is annoying. I got the stuff off too, but I have no way to check. I may be able to run over to the old shop I used to work at and check the threading or even Ace down the road might have it.

That makes the search rather brutal, I am having trouble finding anything close.

Have you though about going to Home Depot or Lowes, to the screw isle and looking at the bottom rows where they have all the larger/odd bolts

    I saw this stud earlier.

Here's the run down with these studs. These guys make the studs for Magnuson and yes they are class 10.9, they are the equal to a 4130 chromoly bolt apparently and you're really not going to find anything better than them.

The most ideal thing would be to run a setup similar to GM's threaded stud over bolt design that way even if you lose part of the stud on the blower, it won't take absolutely everything with it like what happened to me. It would be hella custom but it may be worth it considering how much is riding on those studs at all times.

I wonder if we need to make it a habit of replacing these studs every so often. Come to think of it when I did my bearings when I was looking at the top stud mine looked a little bent, I didn’t really think too much into it though.

You know I'm starting to wonder if we should myself. Like maybe it's just a somewhat regular maintenance item. Every like 80K or so. Similar to timing belts and their respective water pumps and tensioner replacements since you are in there.

How many miles did you have on your Roush when the studs snapped?

Do you mean the studs in general? The studs were installed at 55K I am sitting at 149,988 miles now. I didn't track my miles after installing the Roush tensioner.

I would think the more aggressive the setup the more stress is on them. So if you are running the stronger roush arm plus a pulley wrap mod probably puts a lot of extra stress on the studs. It makes me wonder still what caused yours to snap, do you think it happened while you were hammering on the truck or just driving normal and it popped?

What size pulley are you running again?

I feel like between the lot of us we have all put a lot of miles on these setups. For the most part a few guys have had blown motors or other issues but for the most part I think a lot of us have had pretty trouble free fun.

Yeah they are relatively reliable for the most part. They just have their quirks like anything else.

I run a 2.7 and see 7.5 lbs of boost. So it's not like I'm stressing anything out.

You know part of me wonders the same now. I don't know if it was the tensioner as Doc pointed it out that caused the stud to stress out and snap or if it was some sort of defect in the stud itself, but all of this as a whole sucks.
