TRD/ Magnuson 4.0 Supercharger Tips, Tricks, and Mods

Not sure what you are wanting to do with coupler here... As long as it's aligned and inside all three prongs then I don't see why it would be an issue.

 

Well, I rebuilt the supercharger. the old coupler was bad. when I separated it the snout the coupler stayed on that side. I wasn't sure with side of the spring the impeller prong was supposed to be.

I do, but they are off the truck and so is the engine. Lol!
I installed them with the super charger on. 1/4" ratchet and long extension with a swivel.

 

well i pulled trigger on a 1pc driveline. great experience with tom woods drivelines. ordered today, on my doorstep tuesday! damn fast. yes, to those wondering im below critical speed. i never go over 85 anyway. super helpful with geometry and supplying shims. free delivery is nice too.

 

I’m pretty sure the spring side faces back. Why not an upgraded solid coupler? Regardless Nice job. Did you replace the shaft bearings too?

 

There is a picture on page one that shows the position of which way that coupler mounts. The way it's sitting in your photo is correct (of course consult with page one) it's my photo, but it's still good to reconfirm. I don't remember the intricate ins and outs of everything years after I did it.

The video is helpful to an extent. But thats a stock 3.0 pulley situation. It gets way more tricky pressing out the modular hub and pressing in new bearings for us 2.3 pulleys cause the walls on the snout are super thin.

 

this was info i need to decide how to do my maintenance. i just enjoy asking things that get @12TRDTacoma worked up. keeps him looking for new group buys.

 

You guys can't talk to me about thin and stick items right now because it triggers me to get salty about my current situation.

Oh but really. We do need that stud middle support bar that @TodayWasTHeDaY proposed. Or was it @Murphinator ?? I can't remember, but yeah.

 

that just seems like another annoying thing to install.... mine are also sitting on a shelf in the garage... maybe ill try when I get my Ripps coils with a pile of extensions and swivels.

 

Clean bucket, unscrew drain plug on radiator into bucket. Drain enough to lower coolant level back there. Swap hoses. Refill. Cycle heat on high at idle. Done.

 

Yeah I was looking at how bad it will be for me to do the coils, specifically the drivers rear. Being a manual I think I have a couple more obstacles in the way but I think I can do it.
