im running the roush with the green belt. the green does stretch. maybe my saving grace until we find a sturdy solve.

can the stud hole be bored larger to harbor a burlier unit capable of handling more? or is a reinforced plate structure the only route? just giving ideas.

That's interesting to see. I wonder why that lower pulley gets chewed up. @12TRDTacoma yours looked like that too right? Does the stud snap and keep spinning with the belt chewing up the pulley? I wonder if the belt is slightly off causing the pulley to wear prematurely and the weakest point is the stud/timing cover.

No idea. The supercharger setup was installed in 2013 from my understanding though.

My breakage was an original install of 2015.

I personally think it's cause the tensioner is mounted on the studs themselves and that little bracket piece, and its spaced out with belt tension working on it that it snaps. So far it's been three known cases and all were the lowest stud, which would have the most tension pulling on it.

w/o seeing it up close in person I can't determine if this was metal fatigue, corrosion, man defect, load, design, or a combination which resulted in the failure. With all the units sold and these reported cases seem limited to TRD branded units of similar age I believe. I think if we collect some info on the vehicles with the failures (mods, date of install, vehicle usage, etc) we can come up with some useful info that might point to a certain batch or environment its exposed two. just my two pennies.

See there's three mounting points for that bracket, the alternator side, and the two large studs. I do see the tensioner providing more oomph to the lowest point stud. All of us have busted the lowest one so I'm not sure what we can do about it really but it is a cause for concern for sure and is definitely something that should become a semi routine maintenance item.

I have no way of knowing what truly happened in any of these cases including my own, what I do know for sure at least with mine is that the break was clean and I saw no cosmetic oddities in the break off point of the stud so I'm not sure what's going on.

I'm thinking age of the studs having something to do with it perhaps.

I remember we used to have an in ground Dyno for our smog machine at the shop I was at that we would have to go over every time we wanted to put a vehicle on the bay for that particular garage. There was a set of bolts that always snapped that retained a weighing plate. It didn't matter if it was grade 8 or 10. They always had the same average life expectancy due to the load that they had to deal with every time a car went over them. I'm thinking it may be the same situation with these studs.

I had 75K on my unit before the stud went kaput. I'm not saying you should be careful, but uh.. maybe it's time to consider changing that lower out.

Mine was probably around 20k miles. We do have a ton of road salt during winters and I tend to drive it like I stole it.

First screenshot is from the Magnuson install docs…

second screenshot is the Toyota one with bagged parts.

no part number on either, but a call to Magnuson will probably get you squared away.

    M-71-76-10-134 is the part number.

Superchargers online is where I got it. I called Magnuson and they referred me to Superchargers online for parts.

I phoned them. It was not a click and order online type of thing.

Part number is off my invoice.
