Also do you think it’s worth it swapping a 3.73 lsd dif. Or sell that. Buy a 3.73 or 4:10 dif and put in the truetrac?

Hi, that’s me. I like the true trac. I didn’t have to use ATRAC when in Canyonlands a few weeks ago, but I did for fun to see how it enhanced things.

Downside is there are no burnouts happening- especially with the weight of a camper/fridge in the back.

Yes, 100% worth it, especially with boost. I removed my locker axle to put it in and had zero regrets. Less tire spin and more traction and more go, especially in the rain. @White lightning boosted did it as well, @JasonLee now has my old truck with the Truetrac.

Alright, so Nergal hooked me up with studs and and new bracket. Meanwhile a friend local to SATX who is an avid Tacoma guy himself, and owner of 4LoFab (former fabricator at SSO) is coming by the house Sunday to weld a nut on that stud and help me extract it.

Dayco pulley arrives Monday along with studs and bracket. Disassembly begins tonight. Giddy up.

I ordered an extra man. I could pass it off to you at the next CnC if we are both there.

That appears to indicate it fits the locker axle yes. I don’t believe that was available at the time I did mine, or at least wasn’t aware of it otherwise wouldn’t have gone through the trouble of the 3rd member swap. The 8.4 is slightly stronger though.

You are really going to roll the dice on welding a nut? If you do that and the nut breaks off then you are going to have a hell of a time extracting it out due to crystalization.

I feel like I already wrote this.

You have tons of space there. Why not extract it out the old fashion way?

the heat from the weld alone will likely loosen it up. Given that mine is flush at the break I feel pretty confident that welding is the best bet.

A little cutting fluid, a left handed drillbit and extractor is always an option in the end. I feel pretty confident that this is the best option in my case.

I hope it works out for you. I don't know who installed the kit for you but if they used a jacknut method to tighten it, then it may be difficult to remove it for sure.

As long as you get it out, there really is no right or wrong method.

Shit bolted onto other shit, and junk.
not sure if this got answered but 120 is the largest OEM unless a Tundra snow plow package kit had something that fit.

Had to do this earlier today with a bolt the PO broke off in the valve cover… took a few attempts but it finally came out. I’d imagine it should work for you if you can get a solid weld on the broken bolt

That's a grade 5 bolts that broke off in the valve cover. Very soft. The bolt that is broken inside of his T-cover is so hardened that it's basically the equal to a chromoly bolt.

Extracting one versus the other is like comparing an apple to an orange.

Great diff, however it will exacerbate the sway in the axle from the leaf springs since it's not fixed in place with a panhard bar under hard cornering. Really need to pay attention.

Mind if I send these pictures over?

sure but I think I Really just need things like thread pitch, size, length, and possible interested quantities.

I’m a prolific nut welder for extraction. Should be especially good in this case because it’s such a large bolt that you can use a smaller nut and not risk getting into the aluminum. Aluminum is a great material for transferring heat, you should be good. I’d have a go at it for sure.
