TRD/ Magnuson 4.0 Supercharger Tips, Tricks, and Mods

You guys might be right. It's been a while since I did mine. Like years at this point. Either way if you buy the kit with the two GM bottles you're good to go.

 

I’m sure they are right. Plenty of people have said it’s more than what’s in the directions. Plus the kit comes with 2 bottles from scol

 

Half a bottle for me when I switched the nose.

 

Okay boys. Here is the problem. Sounds like the injectors are repeatedly popping at the key “ON” position. Engine will turn over and crank fine but not fire and start up.

Was in the process of flashing a new tune. Think the ECU may have bricked. Any thoughts how these injectors are popping with key ON other than a bricked ECU?!

Plus anybody got a spare Tacoma sport 2008 ECU? It’s a shot in the dark somebody wants to sell one.

Plus I can’t see my ECU number @JustDSM where can I find my ECU # on hptuners?

 

This is really unfortunate.. I have a spare 14/15 auto ecu but I don’t think that will work for your truck

I think the one who should not be named knows how to unbrick ecus but I don’t know if he’s still doing that.. probably only if you use his tuner.

Are 4x4 TRD sport ECUs different than 4x4 A/T ECUs since one is MT 6 speed vs 5 speed?

 

Ucon install years ago and that velcro destroyed my ECU numbers

 

Kind of makes me glad I am approaching from the paranoid side and have a spare ECU pre-loaded with the base TRD tune as a backup in case I mess something up self-tuning.

 

Don't know if you got a spare ecm but if you did indeed brick it - I have one sitting around I no longer need

 

4 month old battery nice and new. Went to flash like I always did. And boom. Now my orange indicator light for mileage is blinking rapidly at ON position. If that’s a sign the ECU is bricked or not.

I know Justin can fix them but you have to send them out to him.

Since this is a potential failure and not one of the kind where the PCM internally fries, you may want to check for a 5 volt reference signal at the throttle body, and the MAF. At least that'll tell you if you are getting some sort of reference voltage signal.

Update to problem. Pulled the main EFI fuse and then I get normal conditions at key ON. No more injector pulsing noises. Tried to flash with that fuse out and still failed the flash.

My question: should I be worried about too much fuel in the engine. Injectors we’re on maybe 2/3 minutes total today. Might take out my 3 passenger side spark plugs to evaporate?

 

You may need to pull out all of them, pull the injector plugs and give the engine several dry cranks, if you have a set of rags, an air compressor and a blow tip, it would be really easy to blow out all the fuel, if you indeed did flood the cylinders.

 

ive helped work on YOUR truck. id suggest a valve body kit. ratiotek i have. iirc we trimmed the snout. 2.7 or 2.5 would be fine tuned for your elevation.
