Most likely a leak around your secondary air injection or pvc system. I assume no drivability issues. U could away spray some combustible brake clean to verify vacuum leak.

 

what would you do with the brake cleaner? That would possibly make sense since I moved it. Maybe my Uni filter needs to be cleaned too. I did just pick up a new PCV valve thinking that may need a swap. (Random order when getting maintenance parts) I’ll give that a check too.

 

Brake clean will make the current idle rise due to the unmetered fuel which is entering the combustion chamber.

 

Gotcha so just spray that in areas to test for a vacuum leak and see if the idle picks up? Makes sense just never tested it before.

 

Yeah you'll hear a surge in idle.

 

easy enough any other key places to check? intake area, pcv, injectors possily.

 

Been meaning to get my oil tested too. I am afraid to do it though... but this might encourage me to.

I checked vacuum leaks and I found one a while back, although not serious - I could trace it to the back of the SC and assumed it was the O-ring sealing the manifold to the lower intake.

 

Anything that’s under vacuum and behind the MAF. Do you have a wideband AFR gauge? Any serious vacuum leak should also cause your engine to run lean

When the vehicle is in closed loop, the fuel trims will compensate for the unmetered airflow entering the system. Fuel trims will be more tell-tale of a vacuum leak.

Short term fuel trims are going to be the hot PID's you will need to monitor as those give the immediate trims of your current engine running condition, not the ones over time like long term.

Just remember Rob @nudavinci64 anything over +/- 5.5% values usually warrant looking into, but realistically, I've seen +/- 7.5% on these trucks at times and it's still decent.

Gotcha I’ll take a look haven’t touched HP in a minute so need to see remember where it’s all at. If anything truck runs rich rather than lean.

 

Looks like a new 4runner blower coming too.

 

Same blower, they've just unlocked the newer ECU's. Supposedly transmission control too. I'm curious to see if they'll release it for the earlier 5th Gen's too.

 

All this TVS crap (which is awesome, not knocking the TVS AT ALL) that either is coming out or has come out for the 4Runner, FJ, and Tundra, and yet no one can be bothered to make something with TVS tech in it for the Tacoma.

That in itself is BS.

 

Gotta keep it clean. That’s 25 extra hp right there……you don’t need a Harrop blower.
